Following his anthemic sets at Future Music Festival 2010, house high-roller Erick Morillo will be back very soon for the Summadayze tour. It should come as no surprise that the Subliminal Records boss has been keeping busy between visits to the Southern Hemisphere. Morillo was once again in residence at Pacha over the Ibiza season, drawing capacity crowds with guests like Danny Tenaglia, Funkagenda, Basement Jaxx and Chuckie. In between all the flying (and there was a lot), the DJ/producer was getting busy in the studio on a range of projects – as inthemix found out when we spoke to him today.
“At the moment I’m about to release my next single with Eddie Thoneick featuring Skin from Skunk Anansie,” he says down the line. “That track is called If This Ain’t Love. I also have an album that I’m putting the finishing touches on with Harry Romero and Jose Nunez, the group is called Sympho Nympho. We have people like Busta Rhymes, Craig David, Jessica from the Pussycat Dolls and Pitbull on it.”
While the Sympho Nympho project might be courting the urban/dance crossover market, Morillo will be keeping the house centre stage over the New Year’s shows. “It’s going to be quality: good energy, good vibes, very sexy and throbbing,” he assures. “I’m there to make the people ecstatic. I’ll be bringing a lot of records that are basically going to be future hits.” The man sure knows how to back himself.
