It’s been a relatively quiet couple of years for fans of French serenaders Air, but in February 2012 the duo returns with a new album. Following on from 2009’s Love 2, Le Voyage Dans La Lune shares its name with a 1902 silent film from Gallic auteur Georges Méliès. Air created the album as a new soundtrack for the film, which was showcased at Cannes Film Festival this year. A limited edition of Le Voyage Dans La Lune will be packaged with the film.
This week, Air posted a photo to Facebook with the tag, ‘mastering the new album’. As you can see below, the studio of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel looks like serious business.

So, when can we expect to see Air back here? The pair kept us waiting for 10 years before visiting V Festival in 2008, playing some supremely chilled afternoon sets. Godin told inthemix in 2009 that they were eyeing a return to Australia in the near future, but we’re still waiting.
