Public urination: so not okay. That’s the moral to come out of the breaking news story that French electronic producer Alan Braxe has been ejected from his own show in San Francisco, after peeing on stage.
Allegedly, during a show at Californian bar DNA Lounge, Braxe chose to relieve himself on a curtain inside the club rather than walking to the restroom, which was said to be only “twenty feet away”. Unsurprisingly, this lead to his ejection from the venue. On top of being destined for a catheter bag, Braxe is also alleged to be something of a cheapskate – declining to cover the cost of having the curtains dry-cleaned. Here’s the full, hilarious statement from DNA Lounge, released on their website:
“Turns out that our headlining DJ last night, Alan Braxe, has a bladder control problem. That’s the generous explanation for why he decided, in the middle of his DJ set, to turn around and piss on our back-wall curtain instead of using the restroom which is twenty feet away.
After his set, when we had tossed him out, he was aghast that we chose not to let him back in. We said that we’d be happy to let him in if he paid us what it was going to cost to have the curtain cleaned. He declined. Also he threatened to sue us. “For what?” I inquired. “Because I wouldn’t come out and talk to him,” Barry tells me.
Well, good luck with that.”
But wait! There’s two sides to every story, and the Parisian artist’s representatives have also issued a statement, defending:
“I would just like to confirm this is a complete fabrication of the truth and Alain in no way urinated on any curtain or wall. This is a personal attack on Alain and something we will be taking very seriously indeed.”
The question remains: did Alan really pee in public? Or are DNA Lounge just taking the piss? Either way, this whole thing sounds a wee bit embarrassing for Braxe.
