The Swedish House Mafia’s takeover of New York’s Madison Square Garden over the weekend had all the makings of an iconic event: a trio at the peak of their powers, one of the world’s most storied venues, a sell-out months in advance, and the kind of production budget that could fund a small nation. Thankfully the plan worked, and the Big Apple was treated to a Very Big Party.

The show was streamed online and naturally a few sections have made their way to YouTube, including the 22 minutes you can check out below (hopefully). The warm-up sets came from Jacques Lu Cont and A-Trak, before the Swedes made their entrance on a convex tower surrounded on all sides by pulsing LED screens.

With the three DJs dwarfed by the mega-structure, it looks like eye-popping spectacle was the main game. As for the set, it sounded as big as the space demanded. The selections were largely from the arsenal of SHM and their buddies like Alesso, Dirty South and Calvin Harris, with all the anthemic layering and sing-along a capellas they’ve trademarked.

Consider this a primer to get the blood pumping for Future Music Festival 2012, and stay tuned for our chat with Future Entertainment Director Brett Robinson about securing the headliners.
