When Orbital unveiled its comeback single Never back in October last year, opinion was divided pretty evenly down the middle. On 1 April 2012, though, we’ll get to hear what else the electronic legends have been working on when they release their eighth studio album Wonky. To coincide with the release of the LP, the Hartnoll brothers are taking their live show across the UK in April, with a London date at the historic Royal Albert Hall.
For Wonky, Orbital recruited Mark ‘Flood’ Ellis – the noted producer-of-choice for the likes of Nine Inch Nails, U2 and Depeche Mode – to mix the album in London.
“The album is a kaleidoscope of everything we like about electronic music,” Paul Hartnoll told Digital Spy when their plans were first announced. “But the biggest influence on this album has been two years of playing live, listening to old Orbital music. We wanted to make music that we would like to play live. It had to flow and ebb like a live set.”
