We’re sure a good few ITMers will be well-acquianted with the Boiler Room concept, pitched somewhat loftily by its creators as ‘the world’s seminal Ustream music show’. The idea is a simple one: find a dark, intimate room (preferably in a basement), pack it out with invitees, then stream the whole thing online for all the people wishing they could be there.
So far the Boiler Room has hosted a distinguished roll-call of electronic talent, including DJ Shadow, Carl Craig, Rustie, Mathew Jonson, Richie Hawtin, Scuba and Lunice. The catalogue is truly impressive – and you can whittle away many an hour over at the Boiler Room site.
Every week it seems there’s a new treat waiting from the Boiler Room team, and over the weekend they dug into the archive to share a special back-to-back set from last October. The tag-team in question is bass innovator Jamie XX and the mighty Caribou, and their 100 minutes together is well worth a spin. The night was celebrating Radiohead’s excellent remix album KOL1234567, and also featured DJ sets from Thom Yorke, Lone and Illum Sphere. Yeah, not a bad line-up.
Jamie XX is also on our radar this week with his new rework of Radiohead’s Bloom, while Caribou continues to earn his genius stripes with his astounding remixes and all-star Vibration Ensemble. Take a listen to the set below.
