According to Grammy Awards producer Ken Ehrlich, the event this Sunday 12 February is set to give dance music its moment in the spotlight. As part of the celebrations, Deadmau5 is set to perform his nominated remix of the Foo Fighters’ Rope …together onstage with the Foo Fighters.

The dance section of the show is taking place in a specially-erected tent outside the Staples Centre where the awards are happening. 1000 fans will get to witness the Foos and Deadmau5 making history (if you want to go that far), with David Guetta also set to perform alongside Chris Brown and Lil Wayne. Could this be a ‘dance tent’ anywhere but America?

The reason it’s happening outside the venue is so that people can rave it up outside the awkwardness of an awards ceremony. “My feeling about dance is it’s such an immersive experience for the participant, that to put it on [the Staples Centre] stage, I don’t know if it ever would have worked,” says Ehrlich.

Could you explain why? Alive and Well is an organisation that does a ridiculous amount of harm for those people who actually ascribe to their beliefs that there's no link between HIV and AIDS and that AIDS isn't that big of a problem in Africa of all places. I hardly think having the opinion that AIDS denial = bad makes me a hipster tosser.

I frankly don't care whether they no long support the organisation on their website; the fact is the damage, for me, was done the moment they publicly supported it.

They no longer list it in their supported charities on their website, but frankly, publicly supporting such a fucking absurd concept at any time is enough for me to judge them based on that permanently, and I find it hard to believe at least some of them don't still privately believe that.

But hey, that's just my opinion, and I'm a bit of a cynical cunt.

The bassist supoorted it like five years go - he was crackhead by the sounds, but the band itself was't affiliated and neither was Grohl as far as I can tell. Digging from the bottom of the barrel...

The band was well and truly affiliated. It was listed as one of the causes on their site. They did the score for a related documentary, and put on a benefit gig. Does it matter now? *shrug* But it's not like Bones is talking out of his arse.

From what I could gather from quick research, it was only the (crackhead) bassist who supported the cause - however, if there's evidence (from credible sources) to demonstrate otherwise I'd be very interested to read it, that's definitely very whack.

The fuck... too many people are hating right now.. who gives a fuck if a rock band and an epic house/electro producer are making a remix, its good music and business.. its combining the best of both worlds and if you're a purist and don't like it (simply for the sake of not liking it because its not "pure") then get the fuck outta here... music itself is much bigger than that.. don't not like cause it doesnt make u not as individual now.. embrace it because either you were ahead of the curve or joining in with the rest of the joy!
