Britain¹s sex aid manufacturers are selling so many sex toys that they¹re forming a trade organisation and applying for Kitemarks (product guarantees of safety), a Channel 4 TV programme revealed last week. According to sex shop owner Kathryn Hoyle, who sells “thousands and thousands a year”, typical purchasers are Œa real cross section, though the largest group are in their 30s and 40s. The rising popularity of vibrators reflect fairly low sex rates in the UK, with the average Brit having sex 109 times a year (compared to Americans at 132 and Russians 122).

Meanwhile, London DJ Ross Allen confessed that he takes a typically British approach to romance, preferring to rely on traditional reserve. “I¹m not very good at chatting people up,- lines very rarely work anyway”, Allen admitted in DJ magazine. “I tend to just go out and get really drunk then fall into people and say Œ’Sorry’. That tends to work. Or just standing around looking lost.”

Lisa Pinup, reminiscing about her first proper groupie encounter in 7 mag, recalled a similar unprompted encounter, when a lesbian fan tried to hussle her way in. ³This gay girl called Little Jo tried to lick my legs,² Lisa told 7 mag. ³I thought someone had brought a dog in at first and then saw her attached to my leg. Let¹s just say it didn¹t get much further than that. I have been with someone – a man, for 14 years now.²
