In and out of the scene for just under 10 years, I tend to be on the outside of the scene and I like it that way. For me, good music, be it electronic or otherwise is best understood by listening to it and really concentrating on it. For this reason, monotonous, obnoxious or contrived beats don't interest me, and I am sorry to say it, but most of the stuff coming out these days tends to pander to the mass market with minimal technical accuracy or compositional originality beyond basic melodic variations. I'm particularly fond of music that makes you think, not just feel. IDM and avante garde are two movements which have caught my interest lately.
These days, I prefer to graze the plains of electronic music, rather than immerse myself neck deep in it. There are too many other brilliant genres of music out there to enjoy to focus on one exclusively.
