Gamboa hasn‘t been that busy around these here parts
All About Me
Immersed in the sea of bedroom producers and backpack beatsmiths, keeping your head above water is a near impossible task. Without a passion for the culture of music, and not just a desire to be successful, getting anywhere simply won't happen. No-one knows this better than Gamboa.
Formerly known as 'Ace Wonder', Gamboa set his creative mind to work sampling hooks and melodies. It didn't take long for the tracks to take shape, and become much more than just sounds made with mouse clicks and button presses. Over the next few years Gamboa honed his skills, and compiled a strong collection of instrumentals to exhibit. One track in particular caught the attention of Sydney based MC, Figgkidd, at an urban talent show in Sydney's inner west. Gamboa's ambition and persistence paid off, landing him the production credits for 9 of the 12 tracks on Figgkidd's album. The first two weeks of 2008 saw the Gamboa produced lead single hit the number 1 spot on the Independent Air Charts. That was followed by a national ad campaign on Network Ten that featured the track, and a win for 'Best Video' at the MusicOz Awards '07.
Since then, Gamboa has put all of his energy into furthering his name. Moving away from the aging hip hop scene, he turned his talents toward the styles of music that came to him most naturally. Not wanting to conform to the sound of the movement has given Adrian's latest compositions a soul that is lacking in so much other music. Most recently his remix of Fedde Le Grand's track, 'Get This Feeling', has received praise from fans and followers the world over. It showcases 's technical prowess without losing any of the dancefloor appeal of the original. "Ultimately, I'm making this music because I love it. Producing is fulfilling, and I'd be doing it whether other people were interested in what I make or not", says Gamboa.
His debut album is a work in progress. As it stands it is a retrospective look at Gamboa's finest work. It represents an affinity with soulful music and the culture supporting it. Gamboa music is materialism on mute, and passion amplified.
