All About Me

Signal Drivers (Destination?) Biography

Signal Drivers are becoming one of the biggest exports out of the west coast of Australia with their brand of electro bass, fidget house and tech funk. They have the ability to always deliver with unique turntablism, sampling and effects and their skills on the decks are backed up by a blossoming production career. They are the head honchos of Destination? Label.

Pete and Mark’s first release, “Widgety Dub” on Erase Records, made Nocturnal magazine’s top 50 within a week of release. "Straight forward bombastic-ness on the four/four tip. Picture the high pitched synth-noises on the bangin' the box low end... and you got this track pegged and ready for use!" The quality continued on Fresh Produce Records with "Disco Seduction", "Some Kinda Wonderful" before releasing again on Erase with “Sticky Date Rerub".

In 2007 they launched their own imprint based around their successful club night which they are co creators of, Destination?. Their label’s debut release “Pump Funk Junk” received great support from all areas including Radio One, KissFM, Australia's JJJ Radio and DJs such as Aquasky, Plump DJs, Laurent Garnier and Pendulum as the hype surrounding their production continues to grow. “Dirty house with a great big smile: that’s the name of the game here. The electro beats and bass are large, the vocals cut up then almost from nowhere arrives an Axel-F synths riff. 4/5 stars – IDJ Mag”. “Just Breathe” with the luscious vocals of local singer Carmen Jones soon followed rocketing up charts around the world. Their next release, “Dizzy Lizzy”, is already causing a storm before hitting the shelves featuring in the winning routine of the UK DMC championships! In 2007 they were voted “Best Broken Beat Producer” at the Perth Dance Music Awards (PDMAs). With collaborations with Rob Reng, Groove Diggerz and The Autobots in the works, these boys are certainly worth keeping an eye on.

As DJs they hey burst onto the scene at the infamous Afterlife parties in Western Australia in 2002 before being picked up as Loaded Dice residents in 2003. Before long they were voted “Best New Talent 2004” in the PDMAs. They are now residents at Destination? (voted “Best Club Night 2006” and “Outstanding Contribution” in the PDMAs) and Pitchshifter both at Ambar, a club voted number 1 in Australia in DJ Mag’s recent poll of DJs in 2007 and The Fuzz at The Como (2nd for Best Weekly Night in the PDMAs). They were voted at no.3 in Western Australia and no.78 in Australia at Inthemix’s most recent national DJ poll.

Signal Drivers keep a busy tour schedule having played Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Adelaide in the last year. They've stood alongside the biggest names to grace the shores of Australia: Switch, Stanton Warriors, Freestylers, Tayo, Skool of Thought, Freq Nasty, Deekline and Wizard, Tipper, Klaus "Heavyweight" Hill, Ali B, Dopamine, Adam Freeland, Kid Kenobi, Qbert, Koma and Bones, Hyper, Rogue Element, Groove Diggerz, Ctrl Z, Pendulum and so on. Being invited to play the many festivals to hit the west coast including Ministry of Sound, Godskitchen, Renaissance, Summerdaze, Good Vibrations, Sunshine People, Future Music Festival these boys always bring their number one game. In 2008 they have tours to Europe and New Zealand on the cards.

When they’re not DJing or producing there isn’t a spare minute left after producing their monthly podcast and their weekly radio show "Destination?" on GrooveFM 101.7 , interviewing and reviewing for online dance resources inthemix.com.au and teknoscape.com.au, or writing the breaks column (Control Break) in Drum Magazine, a weekly street mag in Perth.
