BACKGROUND
Born in war-torn Yugoslavia, DJ Slim (Alen Zenicanin) migrated to Berlin in the early 90’s where he was exposed for the first time to electronic music before making the move to Sydney, Australia. Today his name is often found on lineups of Sydney Super-Clubs Sublime @ Home (www.homesydney.com) and Bloc Nightclub (www.bloc.com.au) as well as large scale festivals and events like Transmission (www.transmission.net.au) which attracts 8,000 clubbers.
Slim is one of the very few Sydney DJs to receive an invitation to play at the Internationally renowned Gatecrasher Festival @ Home Nightclub in 2005 as a nubreed act and again the following year in 2006 @ Bondi Beach - this time as a mainstage act alongside global superstars Gareth Emery (GTR), John ’00’ Fleming and Dave Lee.
He is responsible for Dance Department - the events and promotions project responsible for club nights such as Dirty Fridays @ Echo Lounge, Genesis @ ClubNation and The Temple @ Vbar; which has become Sydney’s Premier Sunday trance event. His contributions to the Sydney dance scene have earned him a sponsorhip from fashion label Paranoid Dancer Clothing (www.paranoiddancer.com) and the popular energy drink Rhino's Energy (www.rhinos-energy.com).
While keeping busy with a full-on DJ schedule, organizing and running his own Sunday club and promoting local producers, Slim still makes time to spend in the studio with the likes of Patrik Carrera, Scott Richardson, Shadower and OmeR.
