All About Me
Mike Gurrieri's strictly underground attitude towards music has earned him a reputation as a DJ who can open an entire crowd's minds to fresh, innovative music but still know how to make it fun at the same time.
Having worked in several local record stores earlier in his career enabled Mike to develop his ear & build a solid collection of music. Not content with just being known as a deep house DJ, Mike has managed to make a name for himself also playing more eclectic freestyle DJ sets where he explores the depths of jazz, funk, soul, roots & beyond.
In 2007, Mike launched his own record label, Deepermotions Music, an outlet for him to release deep house music from many of his favourite artists whose music fits into his unique sound such as Matthew Bandy, Alton Miller, Karu, Andy Compton, Cpen and Fresh & Low. The sound of the label could be best described as deep & organic with a live feel. Mike also runs a monthly podcast in conjunction with the label featuring a monthly mix from himself as well as from artists around the globe. Past guests have included JT Donaldson, Jay Tripwire & Aqua Bassino.
As a house DJ, Mike's deep & jazzy style has enabled him to be the DJ of choice to warm up a room, and be billed alongside many prestigious acts, including: Derrick Carter, Henrik Schwarz, Metro Area & Mark Farina to name a few. With the more freestyle DJ sets, he has supported DJs such as Jazzanova, Quantic, Ben Westbeech & Lanu as well as live acts including Amp Fiddler, Mayer Hawthorne & Crazy Penis. Mike has also started performing with Kylie Auldist (Tru Thoughts) live on PA, they recently made their debut together at Summadayze 2010 in Melbourne.
2010 promises to be a big year with more international support gigs, more releases on the record label & waiting for the right amount of inspiration to move into music production. Stay tuned.
