I come from the Mornington Peninsula, nestled amongst good food, wine and beaches. As a kid, I grew up on a diet of Rock n Roll; I played the piano, my Dad played guitar and my brothers represented on drums and bass. Music has always been a part of my life.
Branching out in my early teens I started exploring other genres and artists with particular soft spots for Radiohead and Rage Against the Machine; Pop reared its inappropriate head from time to time; whilst living in Germany I was fortunate enough to meet Deutsche Hip Hop and Reggae. It wasn’t until I was of age that I fell into dance music, but when I did there was no getting up. I attended the Prince of Wales religiously in the beginning, then after a stint in London slash Fabric I began to see the light; Drum and Bass. I shamelessly lose my shit when I hear those brutal beats, Amon Tobin and Kid Koala gig is one such example; Pendulum is another!
In 05 I made a move to Canberra. Despite the rumoured downside to living in our nation’s capital, this place is thriving with ridiculously cool people from all walks of life; many of whom have actively diversified and enticed my appetite for music. Allegedly studying Law, it soon became apparent that Uni was most certainly not where it was at. So I bailed in 06 and spent some time in Sydney, where I met two new best friends, Breaks and Psytrance. I was also fortunate enough to live with an incredibly talented DJ producer and thus began a whole new world of dance and fun. I would fall asleep to the most intricate and beautiful Minimal and be woken by the deepest darkest Psychedelic Trance – Good morning world! If I could, I would doof more often, but whenever I go.. I seem to lose time.. and space.. and reality. Not necessarily bad things to lose temporarily.
Sadly, that hedonistic life-style came to an inevitable end; and after tossing up between transferring back home and returning to ANU, I somehow found myself back in the berra. Back at Uni, but it’s a transient relationship. Studying philosophy keeps me interested in life, but studying music makes me tick.
