The June long weekend is fast approaching, and for inthemix podcast session 33 we’ve put together an extra special broadcast to get you prepared for the coming madness. Our feature artist this fortnight is One+One, the exciting new collaboration between James Zabiela and Nic Fanciulli, who’ll be touching down in Australia in June for a national tour. Not to be outdone, we’ve also got fresh music from Byron Bay collective Junkbeats, the new collaboration between Jono Fernandez & Dylan Rhymes, the first release for Elroy & Piper’s label Bambam Muzik, something from UK underground breaks producer B-Phreak, and a track from Ben Daffy, an emerging name on the Melbourne scene.

One+One (James Zabiela & Nic Fanciulli) – No Pressure [Renaissance]
Individually they were two of the dance scene’s biggest ‘next generation’ stars, but combined they’re proving to be unstoppable. Yes, James Zabiela and Nic Fanciulli have teamed up to create a new studio and touring side project called, appropriately, One+One. They’ve put together a new double CD mix for Ministry of Sound, which features a couple of tracks that they’ve made together in the studio, including ‘No Pressure’ which we’re featuring here. More importantly, the boys are also taking the One+One concept on the road and are in the midst of a world tour at present, with Australia in their sights for June. The UK dance media is comparing their collaboration to the legendary pairing of Sasha and Digweed in the mid 90s, but the boys are trying to be a bit more humble about it all. We recently spoke with James and Nic to find out how they came to pair up, and what they have planned for the future.

Ben Daffy – Modgrass
Ben is a Melbourne based producer and DJ, and he’s held down residencies at Lounge, Parkview, Richmond Club and Der Raum. He’s also had his mixes featured on Triple J and Kiss FM, and in 2005 played gigs throughout Central and South America. With a few releases already under his belt on UK label Lot 49, this time around Melbourne producer Jono Fernandez has teamed up with Dylan Rhymes for a track that’s being hyped big time. You may recognise the vocals, which come from Seany B who last featured on TV Rock’s smash hit ‘Flaunt It’. Jono and Dylan’s track ‘Breathe’ has a more underground feel to it though, but big things are expected.

Elroy & Piper Point N Clap (Rob Kay Mix) [Bambam Muzik]
After a long wait, Sydney producers Elroy and Tom Piper have finally taken the wraps off their brand new record label, Bambam Muzik, which launches this month. The first release, ‘Point N Clap’, comes from the duo themselves, and we just had the Rob Kay mix for your listening pleasure. Featuring vocals from Gabriella Abela, remixes have also been turned in by Nick Thayer, Cutoff, Craig Obey, Nick Galea and more.
