We hope you enjoyed our Ibiza special edition last fortnight, we had a great response to – looks as though everyone loved the new mixed format, so we’ve decided to do a few more ‘mixed’ special editions, starting with podcast 38. Voting is now underway for the 2007 inthemix50. This year we introduced a brand new category for Most Popular Producer, and to celebrate we’ve put together two special edition inthemix50 podcasts with some of the hottest tracks and remixes by Aussie producers. This fortnight we’ve got music from around the country, with guys like Hook N Sling, Bass Kleph, Jeff Drake, Mark Dynamix, the Potbelleez, Matt Nugent, Derek {K} and a whole lot more all contributing tracks and remixes. Remember to head to inthemix.com.au/50 before September 5th to vote. Your favourite producer, DJ, club night and promoter are counting on your support! Everyone who votes has the chance to win a Pioneer DJ setup, which includes CD decks, mixer and headphones.

On This Podcast…
Tydi – Meet Me In Kyoto [Unreleased]
We start things off in Brisbane, with young gun Tydi sending us his latest track recently. It doesn’t sound like anything we’ve heard him do before, as Tydi has tried his hand at the minimal techno sound for this one. Showing just how talented a producer he is, ‘Meet Me In Kyoto’ proves Tydi is can make a whole lot more than stomping trance. A damn versatile youngster and one you should keep an eye on in the future.

Mark Dynamix & Jaytech – Moment Of Confusion Between Man And Dog [Unreleased]
The combination of veteran DJ Mark Dynamix with emerging producer Jaytech has been dynamite in year, with the duo getting praise around Australia, Europe and the US for their unique take on the tech and electro infused house sound. We’ve got an exclusive unreleased track by the boys, bizarrely titled ‘Moment Of Confusion Between Man And Dog’. Remember, you heard it here first!

Jeff Drake – One Dress Two Legs [Unreleased]
Having always featured in the top 5 for the inthemix50 in Canberra, Jeff Drake relocated to Sydney this year and he’s been getting recognition for his production, as well as DJing, since setting up in the big smoke. He’s released on Melbourne’s Vicious Vinyl, but here’s an unreleased gem we managed to score from him called ‘One Dress Two Legs’.

Bass Kleph – Coup d’Etat (Hook N Sling Remix) [Vacation]
Both Bass Kleph and Hook N Sling have had massive years in 2007; Bass Kleph starting up his label Vacation Records, and Hook N Sling continuing to gain massive respect for his production work across the globe. Remixed by Hook N Sling, ‘Coupe d’Etat’ has been a huge hit on dancefloors. Recently Hybrid even opened their Glastonbury live set on BBC Radio 1 with the track; you don’t get much bigger than that!

White Heat – Hot City [Smoke & Mirrors]
A resident of Melbourne’s biggest club night Famous, in 2007 Derek {K} has focused quite a bit of time on his studio collaboration with Boycott. They go under the name White Heat, and their track ‘Hot City’ was picked up by LA record label Smoke & Mirrors. It’s been huge with DJs in Europe, and Derek is in fact currently on tour, having played recently at Fashion Week in Amsterdam, as well as the UK, Ibiza and more.

Potbelleez – Junkyard (Matt Nugent & Nick Galea Remix) [Vicious]
Although originally from Ireland, we’ve definitely adopted the Potbelleez as our own down here in Australia. They released their debut EP on Aussie label Vicious this year, and their track ‘Junkyard’ has been huge in clubs. If it sounds familiar, chances are you might have also heard it used on TV, as the track was featured quite regularly on Big Brother this season. We’ve got the Matt Nugent and Nick Galea remix for you to check out.
