On This Podcast…
Micah – Control
Perth’s Micah is undoubtedly one of the western state’s most popular DJs, having ranked as the #1 breakbeat DJ from 2003 until present in the Perth Dance Music Awards, and most recently in at #2 in last year’s 2006 inthemix50 for WA. He’s had a huge 12 months since last year’s poll, he and Nick Thayer getting their track ‘Scrambler’ signed to Aquasky’s UK label Passenger. Adam Freeland even went so far as to call it the best breaks track he’d heard in ages. Micah has also spent some time traveling in Europe of late, but he had time to send us over one of his more recent productions for the inthemix50 podcast.

Dopamine – Come Closer [Title Fight]
Although he made his name in breakbeat, in 2007 Dopamine has proved himself to be more than just a breaks producer.
He’s dipped his toes into the tech influenced house sound, having collaborated with Italian producer Madox on his recent Australian tour. His newest release on the Title Fight label, ‘Come Closer’, sees this change in direction continue.

Matt Rowan – Hot Steppin’ [Red Seven]
Another ‘new school’ producer who has seen his star continue to rise over the past 12 months, Matt Rowan’s tracks continue to get respect and recognition from some of the dance scene’s biggest names. Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sasha, Dave Seaman and many more all play Rowan’s tracks religiously, making him one of the Australian tech and prog scene’s most notable exports. ‘Hot Steppin’ is a new release that’s signed to fellow Aussie producer Jaytech’s label.

Shopliftas – Freak Out (Bass Kleph Remix) [Vacation Records]
Vacation Records has been one of the most dependable local labels in 2007, releasing music that regularly features in the top download charts for many online stores. Remixed by Bass Kleph, here we feature the Shopliftas debut release on the label, ‘Freak Out’.

White Rose Movement – Love Is A Number (Kid Kenobi Remix) [Independiente]
When it comes to big names on the Australian dance scene, they don’t get much bigger than Kid Kenobi, who dominated the inthemix50 for three consecutive years and was still sitting pretty at #2 in 2006. He’s been working hard to make his name as a producer and remixer in recent times, with his Hook N Sling co-production ‘The Bump’ doing huge things in the UK earlier this year. Kenobi recently remixed ‘Love Is A Number’ by UK indie rockers the White Rose Movement. It’s his first solo release and also features on his recent ‘Sessions’ mix CD.

Jono Fernandez & Nick Thayer – Stay On The Line
Individually they’re two of Melbourne’s finest producers, so when they combine the results are dynamite indeed. Here we’ve got a super special exclusive unreleased track the boys have teamed up for called ‘Stay On The Line’.
