SPECIAL ‘DOUBLE HEADER’ EDITION! BOYS NOIZE & THE GLIMMERS
Welcome to the first of two rather huge special editions we’ll be doing in the lead up to summer. This fortnight we’ve got an absolutely massive podcast for your listening pleasure, with not one but two huge headliners. We know we usually feature one artist in each podcast, but we just couldn’t choose this fortnight, so we’ll be speaking with both The Glimmers and Boys Noize ahead of their Australian tour later this month. Not to be outdone, we’ve also got the freshest new music from the world of dance, with tracks and remixes from Jesse Rose & Simian Mobile Disco, Meat Katie & D Ramirez, Ils, and more.
Feature Artists
Boys Noize – & Down [Boys Noize Records/Inertia]
He’s only 24 years old, but already he’s achieved more in his music career than most could hope to do in an entire lifetime. Based in Berlin, Boys Noize has established a reputation on the underground electro scene around the world, remixing for artists like Bloc Party, Depeche Mode and even Marilyn Manson. He toured Australia for the first time back in February of this year, and we’re lucky enough to be treated to a second visit within 12 months as he’s coming back again this November. We recently spoke with him while he took some time out at home in Berlin.

The Glimmers – Kiss Me [Eskimo/Stomp]
Hailing from Belgium, the same country that’s given us the Soulwax/2manydjs combo and Goose, Mo and Ben of The Glimmers have been on the club scene now for 20 years. They’ve put together mix CDs for DJ Kicks, Fabric, Culture Club and Eskimo, and have remixed everyone from The Killers and Bloc Party, through to Snow Patrol and Calvin Harris. Touring Australia in November for the second time, they’re here to promote their latest mix CD, Eskimo Vol 5. We recently spoke with Mo to find out the story behind their recent name change, and how he and Ben find DJing after 20 years together.

Emerging Artist
BKP – Jump On
This podcast’s emerging artist is a producer from Sydney who goes under the name BKP. As well as producing stuff solo he’s also been working with Heath of The Impossibles under the title Downtime. ‘Jump On’ is one of his solo tracks, a peaktime breakbeat stormer. If you make your own music and would like to see it featured in an inthemix podcast, just drop us a line to podcasts@team.inthemix.com.au.

Also On This Podcast…
Simian Mobile Disco – Hustler (Jesse Rose Remix) [Wichita/Shock]
We’ve tracked down the latest single from UK duo Simian Mobile Disco. Having had a huge year in 2007 with the release of their debut album ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release’, Simian Mobile Disco’s new single has been given a remix by fidget house legend Jesse Rose. Rose will be touring Australia over the New Year break, and his take on ‘Hustler’ is rather tasty indeed.

Meat Katie & D Ramirez – Stop The Revolution [Lot49]
Meat Katie has a well established history for top quality collaborations, and for his latest single he’s once again teamed up with electro-tech mastermind D Ramirez. Called ‘Stop The Revolution’, it’s a shining example of how tech funk is supposed to sound. If you want to hear this up close and personal make sure you check out Meat Katie when he tours Australia in December.

Ils – Burn Again [Botchit & Scarper]
A hero of the nuskool breaks scene, Ils is back with his brand new album ‘Paranoid Prophets’ this month, released on UK label Botchit & Scarper. It’s his first album for the label, with past releases on imprints like Marine Parade, Fuel and Distinctive.
