This fortnight we’ve got one of the most varied collections of music for you to wrap your ears around, with techno, house, minimal, dubstep and breaks all getting a run. It’s definitely an interesting lineup, download your copy for tracks and remixes from Meat Katie and Moguai, Justin Robertson, Tom Middleton, Jamie Stevens of Infusion, The Bug and more.
Feature Artist
Meat Katie – Fractures (Moguai Remix) [Lot49]
A regular to Australian shores, Meat Katie heads back down under in August for a national tour, this time to support the release of a new mix CD. Titled ‘Sessions’ and released on the UK arm of Ministry of Sound so if you want to track down a copy you’ll be able to get it on import. It sees him serving up his signature sound of tech, breaks, house and electro, and having done acclaimed mixes for Fabric and Bedrock in the past, it’s got people quite excited. We spoke with Meat Katie, otherwise known as Mark Pember, recently to find out how he approached the CD and what he has planned for his return to Australia.

DKS – Lick My Synth (Justin Robertson Remix) [Spin Out Records]
New from Spin Out Records, DKS releases his debut track on the label, given the rather interesting title ‘Lick My Synth’. The UK label have had some great releases lately from producers like Lutzenkirchen and Richard Dinsdale, and this looks set to join them with a remix from longstanding techno identity Justin Robertson.

Skank Sinatra – How Deep (Tom Middleton Dub) [RMD Recordings]
Visiting Australia earlier in July as part of the Smirnoff Experience, fans of Tom Middleton were excited to see him play exclusive Return of the Jedi Knights sets alongside longtime partner in crime Mark Pritchard. Middleton released his debut solo album this month. Called ‘Lifetimes’, it sees him exploring a much more melodic and downbeat side of electronic music. Showcasing his clubbier side, however, that was a recent remix he did of UK electronica outfit Skank Sinatra.

Jamie Stevens – We Can Hold On [Unfokused]
Jamie Stevens of legendary live act Infusion stepped out recently for a solo release on the Unfokused label. It sees him exploring a much techier sound than we’d expect from an Infusion track, but it’s still got that signature driving resonance. This is ‘We Can Hold On’.

Marc Romboy & K-Alexi – E Y Mind [Systematic]
Head of the Systematic record label, German producer Marc Romboy has established a revered reputation in recent years, and he recently put out his second full length album, called ‘Contrast’. The album sees Romboy exploring a more soulful side to electronica, and it also features a number of vocal collaborations with Chelonis R Jones and Blake Baxter. One of the more subtler songs on the album, Romboy produced ‘E Y Mind’ alongside K-Alexi of famed Chicago house label Trax.

She’s just released a new album called ‘Targets’, and it sees her collaborating with a stack of MCs and producers, including Edu K, Blu Rum 13, Dynamite MC and Ninelives The Cat. The Bug – Skeng feat. Killa P & Flowdan [Ninja Tune]
The final track for this podcast sees us heading to the UK for some deep and dark dubstep, with the revered Ninja Tune label recently releasing an album by a mysterious producer called The Bug. The album is getting him a lot of exposure, with many who’re into the fast rising dubstep genre tipping it as one of the year’s best releases.
