This episode we speak with one of Australia’s most respected electronic music producers, Deepchild. He’s got a brand new album out, ‘Departure’. It’s his fifth, and he’s touring the country in October. That’s not all, though, as we’ve also got fresh new music from SebastiAn, Malente, Does It Offend You Yeah?, Lee Coombs, The Faint, Fujiya & Miyagi and more!
FOR ALL THE LATEST ON DEEPCHILD’S ALBUM LAUNCH TOUR HEAD TO INTHEMIX.COM.AU/BERLINSESSIONS
Feature artist…
Deepchild – Evil Bride Of Deepchild [Future Classic]
Sydney based producer Deepchild has amassed himself a rather staggering list of achievements over the past few years. His 2006 album ‘Lifetime’ well and truly broke him through onto the underground scene on a global scale, and he’s spent the best part of the last two years touring relentlessly. Regular trips to Berlin, bookings at Serbia’s Exit Festival and Sonar in Barcelona, club dates all around the UK… it’s been a wild ride, and this month he releases the next chapter, his 5th album ‘Departure’. Touring the country throughout October, we caught up with Deepchild to talk about his rapidly growing international profile.
Also on this podcast…
Revl9n – Walking Machine (SebastiAn Remix) [Discograph]
One of Ed Banger’s finest, French electro star SebastiAn has a well established reputation for his remixing talents, and he’s brought the best of them together for a new album called, funnily enough, ‘SebastiAn Remixes’. It’s got tracks from Mylo, Daft Punk, Kelis, Editors, The Rakes and many more, and it’s out now.
Stupid Fresh – Get The Fuck Up (Malente Remix) [Vacation Records]
It’s been a big year for Aussie label Vacation Records, and one of their most popular releases came from UK duo Stupid Fresh. A fresh batch of remixes have been turned in for the track, called ‘Get The Fuck Up’, and this one comes courtesy of German electro funk fiend Malente.
The Faint – The Geeks Were Right (Does It Offend You, Yeah? Remix) [Pod]
Having just toured Australia, US band The Faint also have a brand new album out. It’s their fifth and it’s called ‘Fasciination’. This is its first single, remixed by Does It Offend You, Yeah?, who coincidentally also toured Australia recently, as part of the Parklife festival.
Hyperion – Gotta Hold It (Lee Coombs Remix) [U&A Recordings]
New from Elite Force’s label U&A Recordings, this is a track by hotly tipped Brisbane act Hyperion. They’ve been getting big props for their releases, with Meat Katie, Hybrid, DJ Hyper, D Ramirez and The Crystal Method all talking them up.
Shur-I-Kan – Twist [Urbantorque]
First discovered by the legendary Tom Middleton, over the past few years UK producer Shur-I-Kan has established a reputation for his cutting edge deep tech house. His music is regularly championed by Ben Watt, Funk D’Void and Spirit Catcher, and he’s released on labels like Freerange, NRK and the Defected off-shoot Phsyical Graffiti.
Fujiya & Miyagi – Knickerbocker [Pod]
UK outfit Fujiya & Miyagi’s latest single ‘Knickerbocker’, which is lifted from their brand new album ‘Lightbulbs’. It’s their first proper album, and it’s got a lot of people excited. After all, when your music is described as ‘like James Brown on Valium’ it’s only natural people will want to hear it!
