We’re edging closer to summer and we’ve lineup up a seriously hot batch of new music for you this fortnight. Stay tuned as we’ speak with Australia’s original live dance outfit Infusion, who return to the scene this month with the first single from their hotly anticipated new album due for release next year. Like that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got some seriously cracking tracks and remixes from the likes of Cut Copy, Crazy Penis, Sandy Rivera, Pole Folder, Pomomofo, Hermitude and more.
Feature artist…
Infusion – Dogtown
With live electronic music now very much the norm on the Australian scene, it’s sometimes forgotten that Infusion have been around and pushing it way before having a keyboard in your band became de rigeur. The trio have released two albums to date, their most recent ‘Six Feet Above Yesterday’ seeing their international profile rise meteorically, touring it to more than 123 cities in 39 countries. They’ve played the biggest festivals in the world, including Coachella, Roskilde, Glastonbury and Creamfields, but lately we haven’t heard that much from the outfit… get ready, though, because that’s all about to change. In early 2009 Infusion will release their third album, and they’ve given the first taste of it with the single ‘Dogtown’.
Also on this podcast…
Crazy P – Stop Space Return
Kicking off this fortnight’s episode, it’s a brand new track from UK electro funk outfit Crazy Penis, or as they’re known in their home country Crazy P. The band recently signed to Ralph Lawson’s very cool 2020Vision record label, and they have a new album out this month called ‘Stop Space Return’.
CSS – Move (Cut Copy Remix)
‘Move’ is the latest single to be lifted from CSS’s album ‘Donkey’. The Brazilian band called on the talents of our very own Cut Copy to remix the track, and we think you’ll agree it’s turned out quite nicely. CSS were the first South American band to sign with seminal record label Sup Pop. They’ve been around since 2003, and earlier this year they toured with the V Festival.
Pole Folder feat. Shelley Harland – Love Chemical (Philip Michael Anderson Remix)
A new collaboration from Belgian progressive house producer Pole Folder and an Australian based singer, Shelley Harland. Shelley started out in the US, and she’s also spent time in London throughout her career. Past collaborations include Ferry Corsten, Junkie XL and Josh Abraham.
John Legend feat. Andre 3000 – Greenlight (Sandy Rivera’s KOT Remix)
It’s not often we’ll feature a soul artist in the inthemix podcasts, but the new single from John Legend has been given a few rather cool remixes that will see it getting club exposure over the coming months, including this one from Sandy Rivera. The results speak for themselves, smooth house that’s perfect for a warm summer day!
Pomomofo – Island (Live From Mars Remix)
Sydney band Pomomofo have a new EP out now called ‘In Super VGA’, and it’s released on the Onelove off-shoot label Bandroom Records. Their track ‘Island’ has been remixed by Live From Mars, a new pseudonym that Groove Terminator has been producing under of late.
Hermitude – Cartridge Kings
Elefant Traks certainly have another gem on their hands – this time with the latest album from the deep and dubbed out hip hop duo known as Hermitude. ‘Threads’ is Hermitude’s third album and it sees them exploring new territory, moving beyond the chilled beats they’ve become known for.
