Feature artist

Adam K – You’re Not Alone
Last year Ministry of Sound released a curious little compilation that turned a few heads. It inspired a few heated conversations, of course, but it also captured a moment in time in terms of what was happening in clubs. ‘Progression’ chronicled the dawn of a new breed of progressive house, reinvigorated, more diverse and harder to define than ever. Canada production whiz Adam K is a name that’s firmly entrenched in this new wave of progressive music, so it’s little surprise he was hit up to mix the second in the series. Touring Australia in April and May to launch the CD, we caught up with Adam to speak about his ‘Progression’ mix and thoughts on dance music in 2009.

It’s called ‘$pend My Money’, and it’s riding high on the ARIA Club Charts. Be sure to check out Bass Kleph on tour over the coming months if you’d like to hear it live.

Tocadisco – Da Fuckin’ Noize (Steve Angello Remix)
Tocadisco toured Australia just a few months back as part of the Future Music Festival, and now his first release for 2009 will see the light of day on German label Superstar Entertainment. Called ‘Da Fuckin Noize’, Tocadisco has called in some big favours for the remix with Swedish House Mafia don Steve Angello putting together this slow bubbling and understated techy interpretation.

Art vs Science – Parlez-Vous Francais
Sydney three-piece Art vs Science are in the midst of their first ever headline tour of Australia throughout May, and it’s proudly presented by inthemix. It’s been a swift rise to prominence for the boys, having formed only a little over 12 months ago, but they’ve already scored some pretty major bookings, including Splendour in the Grass, Parklife, Good Vibrations and the Falls Festival.

Hey Today! – If I Was Wonderman
New on the Bang Gang 12s Inches label, this time they’ve cast the net a little wider with a release from German duo Hey Today, who hail from Hamburg. Called ‘If I Was Wonderman’, it follows their debut on French label Kitsune in 2008 as well as remix work for Digitalism, Zombie Nation and even our own Shazam. Temper Trap – Science of Fear (Mistabishi Remix)
With their long awaited debut album due for release next month, the stage is well and truly set for Melbourne band the Temper Trap to start out on their path towards global domination.
