This fortnight we’ve got quite possibly the biggest headline artist possible… we speak with the world’s reigning #1 DJ, the man they call Armin van Buuren! Not only that we’ve got his latest single for you to hear, along with one of the highlight tracks from his brand new ‘A State Of Trance 2009’ CD. Armin’s not the only reason to tune in, however, as we’ve also got new music from Adam Freeland, Fred Falke, Lee Burridge, Fischerspooner, Alex Metric, Steve Porter, Shonky and Grum.

Plus exclusive mini-mix; Armin van Buuren feat Jennifer Rene – Fine Without You & tyDi feat. Audrey Gallagher – You Walk Away

Unquestionably the world’s biggest dance music identity, Armin van Buuren is back in Australia this June for a string of dates to launch his ‘A State Of Trance’ 2009 CD. Ranked as the world’s #1 DJ, he’s a firm favourite of local audiences, and it’s a great feeling to know the feeling is mutual with Armin speaking highly of Australian crowds whenever he gets the chance. Prior to arriving down under we spoke with Armin about his new CD, the direction sees trance heading in 2009, and how he feels playing on festival lineups in Australia this time around compared to the Armin Only tour last year.

Freeland – Under Control (Alex Metric Remix)
It’s been 6 years since Adam Freeland’s genre smashing debut artist album ‘Now and Them’, and in 2009 he’s finally ready to unleash the next chapter with ‘Cope’ now available in stores. As to be expected, it’s once again a meshing of styles that sees him straddling the worlds of rock and electronic music. Guests include Joey Santiago of the Pixies, Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson and Tommy Lee of Motley Crue. This is the first single, ‘Under Control’, remixed by Freeland’s Marin Parade cohort Alex Metric.

Lee Burridge & Steve Porter – Raw Dog
A brand new collaboration from across the Atlantic; this is ‘Raw Dog’ and it sees UK identity Lee Burridge teaming up with American house type Steve Porter. It’s released on the Phrunky label, which Sasha quite aptly described as sounding “like the inside of my head during a panic attack.” It’s certainly compelling stuff if you like your tech house with a heavy dose of funk.

Grizzly Bear – Two Weeks (Fred Falke Mix)
Indie outfit Grizzly Bear may not be a name you’re familiar with, but you’ll no doubt be aware of the producer behind that remix – celebrated French house identity Fred Falke. The New York band have been getting a lot of attention for their new album, and from it this is the single ‘Two Weeks’, obviously given a little bit of spit and polish for the dancefloor.

Fischerspooner – The Best Revenge
Standing at the forefront of the electroclash movement earlier this decade, Fischerspooner have proved they’re not disappearing without a fight, returning with a brand new album on their own independent record label. It’s their first since breaking free of the major label machine and it’s called ‘Entertainment’. Recorded over a two-year period, it’s said to show a more mature side to the outfit, and from it this is ‘The Best Revenge’.

Grum – Sound Reaction
This is the latest track from a UK producer who has been turning heads of late. His name is Grum, and this is his newest release ‘Sound Reaction’. His tracks have been getting support from a wide range of artists; everyone from Annie Mac and Pete Tong through to Erol Alkan, Aeroplane and Alex Metric all on board. We’ve also just discovered he’ll be touring Australia for the very first time over the Christmas and New Year this summer, so keep your eyes glued to inthemix for updates.

Shonky – Roudor & Capulet
In our last podcast we had a track from Dyed Soundorom of French label Freak N Chic, and this time around we’ve once again lineup up another stunning release from the crew with Shonky’s latest work ‘Roudor & Capulet’. From the EP, this is the title track, and it’s a great display of the forward thinking house music Freak N Chic are fast becoming famous for.
