This episode we’re seeing Angus Paterson and Dave Ruby Howe taking over the reigns from long-serving podcast gurus Tim Hardaker and Jack Tregoning. We’re looking forward to continuing to bring you the latest and greatest in electronic and dance, and things aren’t any different with this fortnight’s episode. We’ll be chatting to reigning Sony inthemix50 #1 Tydi about his recent win in the poll, and we’ve also got new tracks and remixes from Tocadisco, Anja Schneider, Bushwacka!. Italo Boyz and more.
Feature artist
Tydi
Nadia Ali – Fine Print (Tydi Remix)
Tydi’s reign over Australian dance culture in 2009 has been absolute, and it was only cemented further when the trance and progressive star took home the trophy for Australia’s #1 DJ in the Sony inthemix50 awards. For the second year in a row, no less. It’s the end of what’s been a massive 12 months for the DJ/producer, which saw him playing mainstage at Trance Energy in Holland, releasing his debut artist album as well as touring relentlessly across the country. We caught up with Tydi recently to see how he’s traveling after his big win.

Pablo Calamari feat. Slice MC – I Bought My Wife On The Black Market
First up we’ve got an exclusive cut from the Sweat It Out label, run by mash-up king Ajax, who held onto his crown as the #1 DJ for NSW in the recent Sony inthemix50 results. The track here comes from Pablo Calamari with ‘I Bought My Wife On The Black Market’, a tune that’s been getting props from Etienne De Crecy, Rico Tubbs, Don Diablo, Aston Shuffle and loads more.
Tocadisco – Way Of Love (Style of Eye Remix)
The track comes from Tocadisco, the German house DJ/producer who was last in Australia for the Future Music Festival earlier this year. ‘Way of Love’ is taken off Tocadisco’s brand new album ‘Toca 128.0FM’, and what we heard there was the remix from Style of Eye, one of techno’s biggest breakthough acts for 2009.
2020 Soundsystem – Satellite
2020Soundsystem are a Manchester live act comprised of a collective of artists from the 2020Vision label, which includes the label founder himself Ralph Lawson. They’re a group with a mission statement of taking live electronic performances beyond merely fiddling with a laptop on stage. They’ve tried to capture their live energy on their upcoming second album ‘Falling’, and here we’ve got a track taken from it called ‘Satellite’. Take a listen, it’s a gorgeous tune and we’re sure you’ll agree.
Paul Brtschitsch – Three Weeks (Anja Schneider & Paul Brtschitsch remix)
Anja Schneider is known as one of Berlin’s leading ladies, responsible for unearthing some of that city’s finest underground talent with her Mobilee Records imprint. Here we’ve got a collaboration with Paul Brtschitsch, who has a heritage in dance that stretches back more than 13 years. Here the duo remix the opening track off Paul’s new album ‘Me, Myself and Live’.
Italo Boyz – Techno Tower
The Italoboyz were unearthed by Claude VonStroke’s several years ago, and since then they’ve gone onto tour right around the world, releasing tunes on labels like Get Physical, and VonStroke’s own Mothership imprint. Soon they’ll be releasing their debit album ‘Bla Bla Bla’ to the public, and here we’ve got a track taken from it called, appropriately, ‘Techno Tower’.
Hijaker – Groov2 (Bushwacka! Remix)
Bushwacka!, along with his partner in crime Layo, is moving towards becoming one of dance music’s elder statesmen, with their comprehensive approach showcased on their compilation for Global Underground. Here Bushwacka! lends his remix skills to a tune from techno producer Hijacker.
