This fortnight we’re turning our attention to some of the acts who are making the journey over here for New Years, and we’ll be talking to breaks heavy Krafty Kuts about what he’s got in store for his tour. Some of the other acts we’ll be hearing from who are touring over summer include D. Ramirez, Midnight Juggernauts, Amanda Blank and The Phenomenal Handclap Band.

Twocker – Stitch (Basskleph Mix) – Krafty Kuts Re-Rub
Someone we haven’t seen in Australia for an unusually long time is Krafty Kuts, one of the breakbeat scene’s most enduring supporters. The scene has definitely had its ups and downs over the past few years, but Krafty has been one of the leading lights who’s continued to keep the genre strong. He’ll be here for an extensive tour over New Years, with shows at Field Day in Sydney, Summadayze in Melbourne, Summafieldayze on the Gold Coast and heaps more. We got him on the phone recently to chat about what he’s been up to.

Solead – Print
First up though, we’ll be hearing a track that’s taken from the Subsonic record label, and it’s the same crew who’re behind the inaugural Subsonic Music Festival that’s kicking off just outside of Sydney in the first weekend of December. The track we’ll be hearing is a tasty tech house number from Solead called ‘Print’.
D. Ramirez – Satur8
There we just heard a track from D. Ramirez, who’s due to return to Australia shortly, with a gig at the debut of the Space Ibiza brand in Sydney on New Years Day. He’s most well known for his classic anthem ‘Yeah Yeah’, but he’s been pumping out quality underground house since the beginning of the decade. The track we heard there was his brand new single ‘Satur8’. We’re looking forward to his return over new years.
Midnight Juggernauts – This New Technology (Nile Delta remix)
One of the biggest and best festivals we’ve got to look forward to in January is the Big Day Out, and it’s been a favourite of both rock and dance fans alike since the early 90s. One of the Aussie favourites that’ll be hitting the stage this year is Midnight Juggernauts, who’ve returned from an extensive European tour over the past 12 months. Here we’re gonna hear a remix of their new single ‘This New Technology’, taken form their upcoming new album.
Amanda Blank – Shame On Me (Yuksek Remix)
Amanda Blank is another one of the acts who’ll be touring the country over New Years, playing an absolutely huge run of dates that includes the Falls Festival, Field Day in Sydney, an extra-special gig at Sydney Festival as well as an assortment of other solo gigs along the way. Just then we listened to a track from her debut album ‘I Love You’ called ‘Shame On Me’, and we heard a remix from French electro producer Yuksek.
The Phenomenal Handclap Band – 15 to 20 (Glimmers Remix)
The final track from an artist who’s touring over New Years for this podcast session comes from The Phenomenal Handclap Band, a psychedelic rock collective from Brooklyn who’ll be playing at Falls Festival, Field Day, Sunset Sounds, Southbound Festival and more. Here we’ve got their hit indie single ‘15 to 20’, remixed masterfully by production veterans The Glimmers.
Buraka Som Sistema – Kurum (Roulet Remix)
Wrapping things up there, we heard a track from Buraka Som Sistema, beat driven renegades from Portugal and Angola who unite their global sounds with cutting edge electronic music. They’ve just released their entry into the esteemed FabricLive mix series for the revered London Nightclub Fabric, and there we heard the Roulette remix of their tune ‘Kurum’.
