We’re back with our very first podcast session for 2010, and we’ll be kicking things off with an extra special look at the Good Vibrations Festival that launches across Australia this weekend. We’ll be chatting with the Plump DJs, and hearing one of their brand new tracks. Some of the other artists playing at the festival that we’ll be hearing from include DJ Craze, Chuckie and Naughty by Nature.
Playing alongside major acts like The Killers and Basement Jaxx at Good Vibrations are some of the finest acts working in dance music. You’ll hear DJs like Dave Seaman and Arman Van Helden holding it down in the Laundry tent, alongside of course the Plump DJs. The Plumps were at the forefront when the breakbeat sound was first bursting out across Australia around a decade ago, and that’s where they’ve remained ever since. We got Lee Rous from the pair on the phone before the festival kicked off.

Santos – Burner King
First up though, we’re gonna be kicking things off on a bit of a house tip with a tune from Santos. He’s been a familiar name for house heads for a while, but he had an underground smash last year with ‘Hold Home’. He’s back in early 2010 with a new EP on Noir Records, and here we’ve got a cut from it called ‘Burner King’.
MES – Back To Basics (Satoshi Tomiie MES original)
Just then we heard what’s being hailed as the return one of the enduring legends of underground house, Satoshi Tomiie. Part of the Def Mix crew along with the likes of David Morales, Frankie Knuckles and Hector Romero, he’s had plenty to do with the Renaissance label in recent years as well as keeping up a hectic touring schedule. We heard ‘Back To Basics’, which he’s released on his Saw Recordings label under the MES alias.
Chuckie – Aftershock (Can’t Fight The Feeling)
Now we’re about to kick off our Good Vibrations coverage with a track from none other than Holland’s Chuckie. He’s had a huge hit over the summer with ‘Let The Bass Kick In Miami Bitch’, which we featured in our last podcast session. Here we’ve got another big room banger in the form of ‘Aftershock (Can’t Fight The Feeling)’, a tech infused slice of electro house that’s set to shake up the Laundry tent when the tour kicks off.
DJ Craze – Drop To The Flo
Just then we heard a track from another one of the DJ veterans who’ll be slamming it at Good Vibrations, DJ Craze, a three times World DMC champion who’s been known to spin everything from drum n’ bass to hip hop to booty bass in his sets. There we heard a rather fidgety tune from Craze called ‘Drop To The Flow’, and you’ll be able to hear him dropping it at Good Vibes.
Naughty By Nature – Know Me Better
Now we’ve got a track from one of the really old school crews playing at the festival this year, none other than Naughty By Nature. They’ve been responsible for some of hip hop’s biggest anthems over the years, but they returned last year with the aptly titled ‘Anthem Inc.’ From that we’re gonna hear a tune called ‘Know Me Better’.
Dave Spoon & Paul Harris feat. Sam Obernik – Baditude
Wrapping things up there, we heard a track featuring the vocals of Sam Obernik. She’s best known as the singer on Tim Deluxe’s massive hit ‘It Just Won’t Do’. There she was working with producers Dave Spoon and Paul Harris on a tune called ‘Baditude’, and youy’ll be able to catch her performing alongside KillaQueenz, Ro Sham Bo, Spinderella and more at Good Vibrations.
