We’re bringing you a very big podcast this session, wrapped up around this year’s Future Music Festival which kicked off over the weekend of February 27th. To celebrate the arrival of the festival we’ll be featuring tracks from some of the biggest artists on the lineup including Boys Noize, Way Out West and Booka Shade.
Feature artist
Boys Noize
Rozz Box
In between the big live acts that are heading to Australia for the event, Future Music Festival is packed out with heavyweight DJs from around the world. One man at the top of the list is German tech-head Boys Noize. As well as running the Boys Noize Records label he’s been active as a producer working with other artists like Erol Alkan and Chilly Gonzales. On the eve of his visit, we got the man behind the Boys Noize moniker, Alex Ridha, on the phone to talk about the festival and his new album ‘Power’.

The Prodigy – Thunder (Bang Gang Remix)
Let’s get straight back into it with a track from The Prodigy’s latest album ‘Invaders Must Die’ which they’ll be showcasing in their raw live show at Future. This one’s called ‘Thunder’ and has been worked over into a thumping remix by local heroes the Bang Gang Deejays.
Jump Jump Dance Dance – Show Me The Night (Grum Remix)
Making their Australian debut at this year’s Future Music Festival is the dance-rock group Jump Jump Dance Dance. The band is a new project from fabled local producer Groove Terminator, who’s hooked up with vocalist Chris Carter in Los Angeles to form the group. They’ve got an album due out later this year on etcetc, but here’s their first single ‘Show Me The Night’ remixed by UK producer Grum.
Booka Shade – Donut
Another big draw card on this year’s Future lineup is German two-piece Booka Shade, who’ll be previewing their new album, ‘More!’, in a brand new live show. For the album’s lead single, ‘Donut’, which you’ll hear next, they’ve worked with fellow producers M.A.N.D.Y.
Way Out West – Future Perfect (Henry Saiz Mix)
From Way Out West we heard the tune ‘Future Perfect’, remixed into a ten-minute big room epic by Henry Saiz. These dance music veterans are a favourite of Australian crowds, and with their latest album ‘We Love Machine’ still on repeat nearly six months down the track, a slot at this year’s Future Music Festival is perfect timing.
The Holidays – Moonlight Hours (The Swiss Remix)
Empire Of The Sun will be filling one of the headline slots at this year’s Future Music Festival, and to make his grand ambitions come to life, Luke Steele has roped in Adelaide disco act The Swiss to be his backing band. Now signed to Modular, The Swiss have been getting busy on their own material away from Empire Of The Sun, and right now we’re going to hear their electrofied remix of ‘Moonlight Hours’ by Sydney indie group The Holidays.
MWSC – Ghetto Star (DONS Mix)
Rounding things out we’ve got a track from outside the festival stable, but it’s one that we loved so much we just couldn’t let it slide by. It comes from British outfit Mid Week Shopping Club, and it’s the DONS remix of their track ‘Ghetto Star’. Have a listen.
