His first set was actually a joke as half of a live electronic duo called the Galactic Gigolos back in the mid 90s heyday of South African Rave Culture. Deejaying quickly became less of a joke and more of a passion as AfroWhitie began to do it more and more. Starting off with ambient, AfroWhitie navigated the genre map on a different course to most, playing a plethora of genres through his career including Psytrance, Big Beat, Speed Garage, Nu Skool Breaks, Hip Hop, Drum n Bass, Deep house, UK Garage/ 2Step, Downtempo and a handful of the House Subgenres . The fact that he never settled on a single en vogue sound or movement only bolstered his versatility and sees him able to pour a decent mix of genres and styles out of the speakers in a single set all while maintaining the technique and track selection required to play each with conviction and style.
AfroWhitie has spread his gospel through top notch events like the Carfax / Kiss Street Parties and OppiKoppi festivals which drew in excess 4000 people to more underground events like SENSE, PRESSURE, OFFLINE, Rustlers, Vinyl Frontier Party, Funky Thump, Fictions Kung Pow Breaks and Mixtape Massacre parties, ESP,Tokyo Star, Both Mystic Boer's and YoYo among many others . He has also played alongside various internationals including Dieselboy, Cargo 77, Tom Novy, Freq Nasty, General Midi, Baobinga, The Freestylers, Qbert and Krafty Kuts.
