"Darren’s humble beginnings started from him DJing in his bedroom, mixing up cd’s for both himself and friends. He quickly made a name for himself amongst the Perth dance music scene after winning the 2008 Habitat DJ Competition at Bar Open. Both his talent and passion for DJing were recognised only a few months later and consequently Darren was voted 2008 Perth's Best New Talent at the Perth Dance Music Awards.
Since then Darren has supported both many Australian and international DJ’s including Armin Van Buuren, Matthew Dekay , King Roc, H.O.S.H, Luetzenkirchen, Satoshi Tommiie, Spencer Parker,Pole Folder, Phil Keiran, Mark Dynamix, Stephan Bodzin, Sean Quinn, Yousef, Nacho lovers, Chris Fortier and Mr C. He has also played at Perth nightclubs including Geisha, Bar Open, Bar 138, Ambar, and Cottesloe Beach Hotel. Darren has also had the honor of DJ’ing at the Perth leg of the Renaissance Masters series, Gatecrasher and Summadayze music festivals, as well as the official Global Gathering, Summadayze, Origin and Future Music Festival after parties.
Darren now holds his place as a resident DJ for Habitat at Shape nightclub on Saturday nights. Musical influences for his sets come from a variety of genres, ranging from tech-house, techno, minimal, breaks and even trance!
Darren’s talent, energy and enthusiasm for DJing is apparent every time he steps behind the decks. His rapid rise from bedroom to club DJ can be attributed to these traits, as well as overwhelming support from his friends as well as fellow Perth DJs and punters. With so many achievements in such a short space of time, Darren J is a name you can expect to see on many event and club flyers in the future."
