The 2015 inthemix Awards results are in

Right now, the Australian dance music industry is busy celebrating the 2015 inthemix Awards. At Sydney’s ivy, the results have been announced, the winners have their trophies and the after-party’s about to kick off. Now, we can reveal who’s been crowned the best and biggest in local dance music this year.

For the first time, Sydney’s Timmy Trumpet has taken the top spot in the inthemix50 poll of Australia’s favourite DJs and producers. Timmy’s win comes after the biggest 12 months of his career, with his Savage collaboration Freaks going a whopping five times platinum at home, making it the highest selling single in label Ministry of Sound’s history.

He’s bumped last year’s winner Will Sparks into second place, with trance favourite MaRLo at #3, Sydney sensation Tigerlily at #4 and relative newcomers Mashd N Kutcher at #5. Other notable inclusions in this year’s top 50 include Alison Wonderland at #8, Peking Duk at #10 and What So Not at #13.

But the results don’t stop with the inthemix50. Once more, Stereosonic has taken the title of Australia’s Favourite Festival, with hard dance extravaganza Defqon.1 winning Favourite Event and Above & Beyond awarded Australia’s Favourite International Artist.

Once more in 2015, inthemix handed the voting of some categories to the local dance music industry. A panel of Australia’s leading industry figures voted hitmakers Peking Duk the first winners of the prestigious Artist of the Year prize, with Golden Features taking Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Flight Facilities winning Best Album for their lauded debut Down to Earth. Future Classic recruit Hayden James snagged best track for Something About You.

And as for the winners of Favourite Club Night? Pacha Sydney took the title for NSW, Cloud Nine won in Victoria, The Met in Brisbane, HQ Saturdays in South Australia, Academy in Canberra and Japan 4 @ Ambar was crowned WA’s best.
