The Roots touring, presented by inthemix

Widely regarded as the most influential hip-hop live act in the world, The Roots will be returning to Australia in April for a national tour, and inthemix is proud to be a presenting partner of the tour! Already announced as one of the headline acts for the 2007 East Coast Blues & Roots Festival in Byron Bay over Easter, this will be The Roots’ first visit since their sell out tour in August 2005.

Voted in the ‘Twenty Greatest Live Acts in the World’ by readers of Rolling Stone magazine in 2003, The Roots are made up of Ahmir ”?uestlove” Thompson, Tarik “Black Thought” Trotter, Leonard “Hub” Hubbard, James “Kamal” Gray, Kirk “Cap’n Kirk” Douglas and Frank “Knuckles” Walker. Their 1999 breakthrought album ‘Things Fall Apart’ won them a Grammy award, and the follow up ‘Tipping Point’ saw them nominated again, this time for two awards. Their most recent album, ‘Game Theory’, was released in 2006 and sees the band taking a grittier approach while still retaining their inimitable vibe.

The Roots will be joined at all shows by True Live, the Melbourne ensemble featuring RHyNO MC out front, backed by a three piece string section, drums and keys. Tickets for the tour go onsale Tuesday January 30th and will be available on ITM.
