Derrick May

Beat Division and Electro Pussy have joined forces and announced that the “godfather of techno”, Detroit DJ/producer Derrick May will be playing in Sydney on Sunday 1st October at Club 77.

May’s career started in 1987 with the release of a record called “Nude Photo”, which helped kickstart the Detroit techno music scene. A year later he was following it with what was to become one of house music’s classic anthems, the seminal “Strings of Life”.

His DJ sets are talked about for years after and is rumoured to be one of the guests at this year’s Red Bull Music Academy.
