Across electronica genre lines are increasingly being blurred and this month Destination? looks to some of the best in the blurring business – Baobinga & ID. Masters of the breakbeat / techno / house crossover the Mancunian duo embark on their Australian tour riding high on the success of their recent LP Baobinga & ID present Big Monster.
Baobinga is one of the most respected names in the scene, as well as the Big Monster Project with ID, he also records as Pablo Beatz for the more breaksteppy stuff and as the Bodysnatchers (along with 30Hz) for the “crunk house influenced madness”. Got all that?
His productions with I.D. have also been setting standards since their first release “The Feeling” (Hardcore Beats, 2004), which won single of the month in DJ Mag and Knowledge, and was snapped up by Electronic Arts for their multi-million selling “FIFA Street 2” game.
Baobinga & ID present Big Monster, released on Fat! in late 2007, received “Album of the Month” in DJ Mag, 5/5 in IDJ and a full page feature in Knowledge Mag. As well as this, Sam and Ed found time to complete the biggest remix of the year: the massive re-lick of Rico Tubbs “Knuckle Sandwich”, which became an immediate anthem.
Regular gigs at legendary venues such as Fabric, Ministry of Sound and The End in London, Babyface in China and 1015 in San Francisco are spreading their unique sound across the globe. Their growing reputation as some of the most innovative and versatile performers in dance music is justly deserved.
Joining them on the line-up is one of Perth’s most successful producers and west coast Destination? resident Karl Sav. His current release on UK label Re:connect, No Doubt featuring Nikita is caning the charts and we here at Destination? head quarters just CAN NOT WAIT to hear this one in the club.
Joules Fine will be rockin’ the dancefloor early doors and Destination? residents Sideshow Rod (the artist formerly known as Stalka) and bkp round up the line up.
Doors open at 10 and entry is a measly 10 bucks before 11 pm
Shoot names to sydney@atmydestination.com for discount $15 all night.
If you’re slack it’s $20 on the door.
Let’s get rowdy!
Big Love,
Sydney Destination? crew
