We Love Sounds winter festival 08 – Here we come!

We Love Sounds winter festival in its first festival format hits Melbourne, boasting a large and super diverse line-up to get those itchy feet and those ears pricking! We Love Sounds continues to set the standard in offering leading edge international acts from around the world, alongside a rich mix of Australia’s locals.

Featuring a mighty list of 18 international acts in total (half of which are making their Australian debut), rarely does an Australian festival offer so many new acts to discover on the one day. Not only does We Love Sounds pride itself in holding a torch to both the established heroes such as Dubfire (of Deep Dish fame) and Cassius (France’s original electro act) but it also makes a point of actively introducing and championing hot new talent alongside such legendary outfits including Utah Saints this year!

Acts such as The Whip (hot of the heels of a European tour with (Simian Mobile Disco), Hans Peter “Lindstrom” (the Nordic space disco producer who’s inspired acts such as LCD Sound System) and Bonde Do Role (Brazil pioneers of the baile funk sound now boasting a new and improved four person expose!) are finally reaching our shores with much anticipation. Also heading here is Richie Hawtins’ M-Nus showcase featuring Gaiser and Mark Houle both playing live sets, and the seminal cult Berlin label B Pitch presents head honcho Ellen Alien and killer live act Modeselektor.

This year’s festival covers a refreshingly wide array of musical styles over nine arenas, including indie, electro, house, Baltimore, hip hop, baile funk, techno, progressive, minimal, Nordic space disco and much much more.

Nestled alongside We Love’s unique electronic lineups comes the exciting announcement of two amazing US bands. !!! (Chk Chk Chk) who have cemented their reputation as one of the most electric live shows on the global festival circuit, and The Bravery, an act who regularly sits alongside artists including The Killers, Arctic Monkeys and The Arcade Fire.
