It’s been over six months since the Logic and Sidechain Music crews teamed up to present the epic 12-hour odyssey that was the Boat Party/After Party double-header, so Brisbane’s tech and progressive house faithful will no doubt rejoice at the news that they’re set to unite again for another night of musical magic.
This time round they’re taking the party to the intimate confines of super-cool Valley venue Barsoma to host Sydney electronic music figurehead Ben Korbel as he begins the global mission to launch his freshly minted Balance presents Electric_03 compilation.
Ben might be best known as one of the captains at the helm of the massive We Love Sounds touring extravaganza, but it’s his skills in the DJ Booth which have seen him regarded as one of Australia’s finest DJ talents both here and abroad – international heavyweights like Sasha, John Digweed, Nick Warren and Nic Fanciulli have fallen over themselves in their praise of Ben’s sublime warm-up sets, and Electric_03 sees him set to take the next step up the dance music food chain.
Following on from previous instalments by King Unique/NuBreed and Gavin Keitel, Ben Korbel’s addition to the Electric series won’t disappoint fans of cutting edge electronic music. Electric_03 is Ben’s first official release and almost a decade in the making, and he brings every second of his experience rocking dancefloors from Sydney to Ibiza to the plate – his mix is a seamless exploration of the underground sounds of deep house and techno, impeccably programmed with the ears of a craftsman but eyes still firmly locked on the dancefloor.
You can expect the same when Ben makes a long overdue return to Brisbane to launch Electric_03. His unique brand of Future Techno has slowly evolved into a genre unto itself, a sound that uses classic European techno, vintage progressive, crisp neo-electro and deep driving house as its base. With these ingredients at his disposal, a couple of hours in the capable hands of Ben Korbel is a tasty proposition in any music lover’s books.
Logic residents Mike Redfern, Fergus Alexander and bpm are joined by Sidechain DJ tag-team C*osmo Cater vs Kris-Ko* to complete the night’s soundtrack, with the AMPT Productions crew bringing their peerless audio-visual skills to the Electric_03 launch party at Barsoma Saturday Jun 14.
