Refugees around the world live in camps and urban settings that are horrible beyond belief. Insufficient food, no health care, little education, discrimination torture and harassment are part of their daily lives. Some children have known no other life. Rape and sexual abuse is endemic in conflict, flight and camps. Refugee women and girls live in constant danger. Refugee men feel powerless when they are unable to protect the women.

The Center for Refugee research runs project with refugees in India and on the Thai Burma border., providing training and assisting communities in their advocate for improved conditions and better protection.

Student from UNSW support these projects, paying their own way to participate in the training and subsidizing the costs for the refugees to attend, and to provide food for them while at the training.
