A rare chance to see one of Australia’s most recognised DJs, MDX (formerly Mark Dynamix), in an intimate underground setting, alongside the fast-rising Cairns-based production duo Urban Monkeys playing live. With support from Deep As Fu*k residents Schwa, RifRaf and Marcotix it’s on for young and old at The Bunker in a top-drawer showcasing of local underground talent.
MDX (formerly Mark Dynamix) is undoubtedly one of Australia’s foremost club producers and DJs. With a sound that traverses minimal, progressive, electro, techno and house genres, Mark’s standing in the mainstream circuit is widely recognised. His Ministry of Sound Annual mix remains Australia’s highest selling compilation and he was voted the 5th best Australian producer in the ITM 50 2007 awards.
Earlier this Mark changed his production alias to MDX “in response to the change in direction my music and production has taken” and to distance himself from his reputation as a mainstream DJ and focus on his underground productions. MDX’s newly launched label ‘Long Distance Recordings’ features tracks he’s produced with Namito from Great Stuff recordings and Chopstick & Johnjon from Criminal Records, while on the DJing front he has played alongside international figures like Phil K, Sharem J and Oliver Koletzki of late, reaffirming that he can match it with the very best international talent on offer.
Don’t miss the rare chance to see MDX perform in the intimate underground setting of The Bunker on Saturday 11 October in conjunction with renowned local underground crews Deep As Fu*k and Artofficial. Support will come from Australia’s freshest production duo Urban Monkeys (Cairns) playing live. The up and coming pair recently reached no.1 on the trackitdown.net fidget house chart for their track ‘Messed Up’, and are playing a series of nationwide shows ahead of an international tour in the near future. Throw in support from Deep As Fu*k favourites Marcotix, RifRaf and Schwa and the night has all the makings of a cracking showcase of Australia’s booming underground dance scene.
