If there is one Sydney DJ who the most purist, nay, snobbish, of Melburnian electronic fans respect unconditionally, it's Simon Caldwell. [more]
Even though Simon Caldwell doesn't play guitar (read on!), he still attracts a large following and is renowned for that special sexy sound. Definitely one of Sydney's top shelf DJs, Simon Caldwell kindly lends us his ear and waxes lyrical on how he gets all funked up. [more]
Simon Caldwell never ceases to inspire with beautifully selected sets ranging from the deepest techno and house through to funky hip hop and soul. ITM dragged Simon into a roadside diner on his way down the Hume Highway. [more]
Sydney's Simon Caldwell rates as one of this country's finest DJs. He commands a cult following in Sydney and Melbourne and has been known to upstage international guests. [more]

It feels good to be in the middle of this. You look left and there’s smiles. Look right and you get the same. All of us rammed in, just smiling our arses off. World class DJs, good music and a well up-for-it crowd. Berlin must be a fun place to be. [more]

Disco balls were spinning, lights were flashing, the music was proper and everyone was getting down. It was a proper party indeed. [more]

Those hard workers at Playground Music had barely cleaned the mud of their Playground Weekender shoes before lacing up again for their Easter weekend mini-fest - Good Times, spread over Bungalow 8 and The Loft on a lazy (albeit gloomy) Sunday arvo. [more]

If you're one of many folk around town right now, reeling from the onslaught of world-class festivals heading our way this summer, you'd be forgiven for not turning up to Mad Racket's Locals Night for Winners and Losers. But you really missed out. [more]

One of Sydney's most consistently fantastic parties, Mad Racket, celebrated it's ninth birthday in style with the UK's own Chris Duckenfield and of course the faithful Racketeers. [more]
With three of Sydney’s best promoters joining forces, there was no doubt that the party would be a hit. And it certainly made for a fine way to spend a Sunday evening on the long weekend and was a breathe of fresh air from everything else going on. [more]
The annual Earthdance Festival was another stellar success, uniting the Sydney community with people across the globe in a celebration of music and peace. [more]
It'd been a long time coming. This reviewer first heard of protégé Canadian DJ/producer Frivolous, aka Daniel Gardner, two years ago care of one of Fabric London's fine compilations and even then, I knew his sound was unconventional and exciting. [more]
Techno, techno, techno. That was the theme of the night, and boy did the boys deliver! Those who attended this night know exactly what I’m talking about here. [more]
Easter is a special time of year. While Christmas celebrates a baby in a manger, with wrapped-up presents and inappropriate food for warm weather, there's nothing that gets in the way of what Easter is really all about: chocolate, and Mad Racket. [more]
Looking for somewhere to kick on last Saturday night, the new monthly night Galaxy at Melt Bar had caught my eye. I liked the sounds of ‘cosmic and inter stellar’ that had been promised, and coupled with boogie and disco it fit the bill perfectl [more]
With the return of Mad Racket favourite Jamie Lidell to the boogie bowlo ballroom for an exclusive up close and personal show, anticipation for this New Years Eve event was higher than usual with tickets selling out weeks in advance. [more]

There's something special about a local Mad Racket. The combination of all local DJs, non-maddening crowds, cheaper ticket prices and Marrickville Bowling Club's all-year-round lower drink prices worked even better with Annabelle Gaspar headlining. [more]
The music is nothing like I’ve ever heard before and the vibe is really laid back and casual. I’d definitely recommend a Mad Racket experience to anyone. If you’ve heard the rumours, they’re all true. [more]
Renowned Detroit DJ Recloose, aka Matt Chicoine, makes the trek to Australia and Mad racket for a night of deck-based madness, but it's local hero Simon Caldwell who steals the show. [more]
With the 'Sold Out' sign already in place, expectations were high for the first Sydney appearance by Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. [more]
It's not the first time Sheffield native Chris Duckenfield has caused a stir Down Under. As one-half of the acclaimed British duo Swag, he played to a packed house here two years ago and he's made a couple more visits over that. Each one at Mad Racket and each one a standout. This was no exception. [more]
On a night when much of the Emerald City found itself perched on milk crates along Oxford Street for Mardi Gras, not far away in sleepy suburbia one very popular local party was preparing itself for a night of musical mayhem. [more]
I hadn't seen the likes of Sugar Ray, Phil Smart and Infusion play for some time, let alone all on the same night, at the same venue, alongside Ninja Tune mash up boys Hextatic. [more]
The Hyde Park Barracks was hot and humid on Sunday evening as a thirsty mob streamed through the gates for the first event of the 2006 Becks Festival Bar. [more]
Sydney has Field Day, Melbourne has Summadayze and Adelaide has the Shores... or so it has been for the last four years. Shores is the biggest party you'll find in this town on New Year's Day, running for a whopping sixteen hours, and celebrating local DJ's and musicians at every turn. [more]
If some of the mixes were mashed or sloppy the majority of the crowd didn't notice as the show of eclectic music was certainly intoxicating the dance floor. All in all a great night in a good multi level venue. [more]
Congratulations Mad Racket for such an accomplishment!! It's great to see that your enthusiasm for throwing excellent parties has not diminished through the passage of time. My view is that Racket parties are the gold standard of party throwing in Sydney. [more]
The Mainline Express switched to the Eastern Suburbs line last Friday, pulling into Bondi Junction with a tender chock-full of techno fuel for lucky us. Top of the bill were a couple of Europeans, Deetron and Justin Berkovi, both of whom came highly recommended. [more]
An all-Aussie lineup causes havok in the plush surrounds of the Bohem Lounge [more]
With plenty of friendly, up for it party people in attendance, I was a little surprised that the Basement show wasn't packed to the rafters, given the talent on offer. [more]
The Bowlo once again attracted fans of the intergalactic disco dancing federation to get down to the sounds of Swag's Chris Duckenfield, Poxy Music and the MR 4. [more]
What a great night. There was fun to be had by young and... well... the not so young (like myself). [more]
Mad Racket has always represented an ideology of enjoying the finer, less obvious things in life to me. Fine music, fine people, fine fun, all in a stylised, unique and, dare I say, underground kinda way. [more]
Glitch at Club 77 offered a 'Tweekin' nostalgic line-up of Ken Cloud, Phil Smart and Simon Caldwell. [more]
Sechs. Seises. Sei. Seis. Six. Many guests from many countries have showed their wares on the decks and as live performers at Mad Racket over the past 6 years and the sixth birthday was to be no different. [more]
My goodness me, this was a great gig. Not only did I think so, but also my brother whom I had brought along because he knows more about these acts than I do. This, I hoped, would save me from saying anything too stupid in this review. However, any stupid things are my fault and not his. [more]
Human rights, like clubbing, attracts its own share of people committed to the ideas of freedom and escape more than some walks of life. [more]
Bring on more - house music can be so wonderful - and the more rad house gigs we get in Canberra, the more those uninitiated with the goodness of house (it can be quite easy to only see the bad sides) will cross over to the right side. [more]
The belated launch party for Deepchild's latest album, What's Going Wrong?. A night of "smokey nu-dub infusions, forgotten mojo-delic funk, silky smooth soul permutations", brought to you by Beats and Peaces. [more]
Simon Caldwell mixes through sounds effortlessly, his beautiful winding grooves wrap themselves around your ears gently caressing you onto the dancefloor. This is an all too rare chance to take that home. [more]
