Josh and Friends Presents never fail in putting on quality events and A Night of Trance on September 9 definitely lived up to my expectations of a great night.

Marishka and Stama started off the night with magical uplifting tunes. Between the two of them they started off the evening’s journey in an exquisite fashion. I had not seen the enchantment that is known as Karvan n Condivi before; yet I’d heard some wonderful things about them so to finally get the chance to hear what they’ve got was fantastic. Brilliant live work moving between the laptop and keyboards to produce very unique sounds. While I must say that I think that Born Slippy, Insomnia and just about everything by the Prodigy have been remixed to death, I was very sceptical when they played their own rendition of Faithless – Insomnia. It was very well done along with their remix of Voodoo People. A very techy feel and an extremely different twist put on the tracks.

Up next was “the man” GTR! Gareth played a very nice progressive trance set with twinkles of uplifting tunes along the way. The 2005 remix of Fancy Fair got us all moving and later in his set he pulled out North Pole and This Is New York. But the track that everyone was hanging for was of course Mistral. A few of us were getting a bit worked up that he might not play it but I had no doubt it was planned near the end, because as soon as it came on everyone went crazy, humming the main riff so loud you could tell Gareth could hear everyone (and absolutely lapped it up!) To top it all off Gareth gave away a stack of CDs!

Following GTR was our very own Jumping Jack, who always manages to deliver a quality set. He played a range of progressive and uplifting tracks that followed that journey nicely taking over from Gareth. All in all, the night was a top night. For anyone who is yet to experience A Night of Trance make sure you head to the next instalment.
