The Back To Mine Sessions
Location: Mojo West 258a Hindley Street
Launch Date: Sunday April 14
Time: 4:30pm - 10pm
Help us celebrate the relaunch of Back To Mine and the launch of the new MJ Cole Back To Mine CD on Sunday April 14.
No door charge, food, giveaways of the album and chilled out tunes supplied by DJ Brendon and weekly resident DJ Aaron.
So what is Back To Mine all about?
The 'Back To Mine' Sundays, taken from the CD series of the same name, gives DJ's the opportunity to compile some of their all time favourite chill tracks.
Throughout each week you will find rarities, classics and the chance to have a listen to the private music collections of some of Adelaide's best.
There is no limit of how old or new, how well known or how obscure the track selection can be. If they took us back to their place after a big night, this is what they would play...
April 14 - DJ Brendon
April 21 - DJ Josh
April 28 - Brett Witter
May 5 - DJ Mal
& Resident DJ Aaron

Could have been worse Paul! ;)

Beekayz, are you calling it worse? :-0

That pales in comparison to what I'm about to call you goatboy ;)
All I'm saying is that Paul should be happier that it has no logo at all compared to certain logos it could have :D
p.s. has anyone read the non-fiction book by Naomi Klein called No Logo? Brilliant

Once it is off the ground...hopefully :D
We're very happy with the Adelaide DJ's we've already secured to play Back to Mine sets in the first & second month though.
All of them are amazing in their respective genres and I can't wait to hear their individual interpretation of Chill Out sets.

Gabber ;)
Only joking, can't wait to get this back into my Sunday arvos!
What an awesome afternoon. It's a great concept because the album series is such high quality.
The MJ Cole CD is really quite different to others in the series. Check it out for Outkast's 'Spottieottiedopalicious' (I hope I spelled that right - but think I could be forgiven for getting it wrong ;) )
I hope the afternoon/evening is as successful as the CD series :)
PS Mr 618 are you fishing for a gig??

Only a few days until the launch & from the feedback we've received so far it looks like it will be a fantastic afternoon/evening :)
A couple of updates:
between 6-7pm pints will be $2.50
At the launch there will be a free BBQ with vegetarian food as well.
Hope to see you there :D

Sounds like a good night... Wish I could make it!
I'll be the first to say the night was really enjoyable. Big thanks to all those invloved with the organising etc...
DJ Brendon played a nice cruisey set that had some gems thrown in along the way! He played stuff from St Germain, FSOL - Papua New Guinea (oil remix I think.. couldn't quite read the label! :P)... rhythm of life - strings for life, the ambient mix of Olive's You're not alone... to name but a few.
DJ Aaron finished off the night with some great cruisey trance.
Next week is DJ Josh... so go have a look. :)

Thanks Logik. Glad you enjoyed yourself & you're welcome back any time :)
Brendon also played the new Massive Attack track and you could see he was having a ball playing a set far different from the usual.
Thank you to everyone who came past & helped make the afternoon/evening a massive success. We exceeded our best expectations in terms of the turn-out and ended up closing at 11 instead of 10 as intended because there were still so many people there. :D
The vibe was fantastic as well with an excellet crowd there to end the weekend in style. And it wasn't until I saw Mojo filled with people that I realised what a great venue it is. Renovations of the beer garden and outside bar have now been completed and it looks amazing
This Sunday will be lots of fun too & I can't wait to hear DJ Josh's Back to Mine set. We are also proud to present DJ Schona in the early 5-6pm slot. And as always, Aaron will be finishing the evening and he's promised that he still has a few tricks up his sleeve.
Since the weather is still looking good we're going to have another free BBQ and I still have some Back To Mine CD's and tons of Back To Mine matchboxes to give away.
oh..and did I mention the $2.50 pints between 6-7pm :D
Paul: I hear that you may be visiting Back To Mine in a few weeks time. I look forward to it. :)
And to all other ITM members, come past and have a look. you won't be dissapointed. The BTM sessions are every Sunday at Mojo West from 4:30pm - 10pm
C'mon Beeker.... that's where you're supposed to build my confidence and tell me my set rocked as well! :tripping:
I'm working with amateurs I tells ya! ;)
And the BBQ was all good last time... even got great tomato sauce to boot. :)

Is the BBQ a weekly thing??
I'm in town in a couple of weeks...
Back To Mine Sounds good!
I can smell the BBQ now...

Logik: sheesh! I purposely didn't mention your DJing as that would have shown everyone how biased you were & made all your comments on how good Sunday was to be null & void!
So who's the one dealing with amateurs?
& fourteen: get that weird message out of my thread! X( ;)

It was a very good launch and I will definetly be back for more. It was my first time at Mojo and thought it was was a good venue even though they didn't have my favourite tipple(s) as you can't just drink beer on your birthday. The free BBQ was just right and I'll second that about the sauce too and I there is no way I could have faced a snitty :) I couldn't stick around all night but enjoyed both Hal and Brendon's sets - I was very pleased Brendon didn't do a similar warm up set to his pre St Germain Set
Well done Beekayz and Arron! :D

Drwahwah: Brendon's set was always under control.
We had discussed it previously & he knew the ramifications of not following orders was a bitch slapping. ;)

How was DJ JoSH's Back to Mine set on Sunday?
Have a read of her feature story at http://www.inthemix.com.au/p/np/viewnews.php?newsid=1019124795,62812,
Also, look out for a feature on Brett Witter in the coming days :)

Josh played an excellent set.
Like Brendon's it was very funky but at the same time very different without the breaks that Brendon played etc.
But that's what we're looking for at BTM..the unexpected :)
Again we had good numbers and stayed open much later then anticipated.
Can't wait for brett vWitter this week.
Free BBQ again and $2.50 pints from 6-7pm

It was great to see you guys there :)
Because of Ultraworld the night before & Uni going back the next days it was a bit down on numbers, but it was still lots of fun and we had another great turnout last night :)
Skot Holder this week :D
will there be a back to mine session next sunday night, before the public holiday?
Beekayz
08-May-02, 10:24pm
Ezz: there certainly will be.
It will be a little bit different though and instead of the usual amount of DJ's (3) there will be 6 or 7.
Still ironing out the details but we're planning to start it at 4:30 as usual.
Dr Wah ah will be playing the feature BTM set from 7-9 (usually 6-8).
And then we're going to keep going with progressive, tribal & house DJ's to a minimum of 3am but hopefulyl later.
There will be 2 happy hours and a free BBQ.
And as usual entry will be free.
So if you groove to chilled out tunes, progressive or house BTM is going to be rocking on May 19 :D
well, all i have to say to that is a big monty burns "eeexxxxxxxcellent" :D
