what is their issue dudes? While I had an awesome time at bukem the other night, as a little side I feel it necessary to say that venue management and security really do leave a lot to be desired in the way of public relations. Even though I was there on 'official' itm business, taking pics and reviewing, a particular security guard there felt it necessary to manhandle me to the point where i still have a bruise around my arm, and it took an awful lot of convincing by both myself and the promoter (thanks for backing me up dude!) to not only convince them it was okay for me to take pics, but also that i was there from itm!
I for one have heard stories in the past about the aggressive nature of scurity staff at this venue, and people having probs taking photos there, even when they are there in an official capacity.
This is lame, and when i find out who told the bar manager they were me, fur is flying kids, flying in a major way. X(
Can anyone out there give me a decent explanation as to what the fuck is their problem? Anyone.....? Bueller.......? Because I personally see no justification for this at all. BLOODY! X(

Miss Ribbon: unfortunately it seems to be security dude thing in general. dont know why but there is always a few that feel the need to exercise their authority (how does cartman say it). At 21st century I went upstairs to get a water (the downstairs bar was closed) and security wouldn't let me back downstairs to see the rest of C4C. It may have been 6am, but C4C hadn't finished. You should never be stopped from seeing the entire set of a DJ you've paid to see. I pleaded quite nicely yet he felt the need to manhandle me and he looked like he was gonna hit me. I mean ****, that is not cool at a rave/dance party, esp. since everyone is all smiley faces. Generally most of the security are cool and do a good job but you always get one or two that create bad vibes.
BTW, love ya ITM reviews of the DnB gigs, you some up the vibe perfectly ;D

I wouldn't say a security 'dude' thing in general.
You get good ones, you get bad ones like everything in life.
End of the day they're just another person doing a job that at times can be very ****ty.
There's no need for me to go in to detail as what happened to me when filming at the tiv. I've been taking cams in to clubs for years, I've also been very carefull of the type of images i would when taking photos as it can say a lot about a place. This city is one of the best places in oz to do it as, when asked, clubs here even help out. (that rox)
But the silly question with the club in question is that it has ads on inthemix but throws out inthemix photographers. The photographers from inthemix are only doing what some clubs pay hundreds of dollars for on their own sites, having your club profiled by inthemix gets more people seeing your club that would normaly go to the clubs own website..
Maybe a better question is "what are they hidding, what don't they want people to see?"
all that's left to say after that is..
Thanks to all the other clubs in adelaide for showing us respect..

There has been an occasion or two when things haven't gone to plan but it's on a small fraction of the nights without incident... Got to think about the good things!

agreed and agreed. i just find it frustrating and confusing. Admittedly I am new to this and I am sure I will learn how to deal with it more in future, but I just find it weird. It lacks any form of logic whatsoever. It cannot help their image or reputation in any way when multiple incidents like this occur.
This kind of thing concerns me which is why I chose to begin a discussion about it in a public forum, therefore giving right of reply and not just bag them in my review, and leave it at that.

From what I heard you delt with in the best way possible... Asked for the manager and sorted it out... Did what you could and then walked away when things didn't get solved..
This is the perfect effort... did your best!!
There is something clearly wrong here, in both cases the photographers walked away after asking for the "bar manager". In my case it was the "bar manager" who was making the "fuss". Any one doing photos at the tiv should be warned!!!.. the last time i was there (and i mean the LAST TIME) i was seached for my cam after being there for over two hours, i was not there for taking photos as it was my night off and i was trying to have fun. No cam was found and i was "let off".... this happens only at this venue... I've also recived a warning not to go back there through two people who wish to be not named...
"Got to think about the good things!" is a great thing to say after the fact, but one day some thing will happen there that the "guidelines" (that get sent out every time something like this happens) will not replace any damage done to the itm'er stuck in the middle. it's not good for anyone involved...

Yes i have also had a run in with security at rush nothing too bad though they just wanted to take my camera until i left .
I just told him that wouldn't be happening unless he had a spare $1500 to replace it and that i would take it back to my car instead.
I later spoke to the bar manager to see what i had to do if i was to be taking pictures for itm on a given night and he said, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ORGANISE A MEDIA PASS WITH THE TIV MANAGEMENT A FEW DAYS BEFORE HAND, IF YOU DO THIS AND WEAR THE PASS NO PROBLEMS.
I'm yet to try this though i will just organise it and see what happens i guess, if it dosn't work then no more pictures at the tiv by me becouse i won't be putting myself or my equipment in harms way by security whilst donating my time...
