You asked for it, now you’ve got it! With a majority of parties in Melbourne focusing on international acts, too often the heroes of our own backyard are left in the shadows. We are very quick to pack a party out to watch a DJ from overseas and often local DJ’s are given timeslots that don’t do them justice, Darkbeat Local Sessions is an opportunity to give our locals their time in the spotlight.

Now this May will see the long awaited return of Darkbeat’s Local Sessions party series for its 6th installment. With Gavin Keitel, Phil K, Kasey Taylor, Sean Quinn all having headlined their own featured shows and also the series celebrating its first birthday in 2011, we are now ready for the next installment with one of Melbourne greatest and most respected DJs going around,
the one and only Mr DAVE PHAM

DAVE PHAM

Bio:

Dave Pham, born in Belgium, migrated to Australia with his family in 1985.

Attending Camberwell High in the 90’s, Dave’s earliest recollection of his first ‘date’ with dance beats was in a music classroom where a handful of students showcased a type of sound which was then considered ‘taboo’.

Dave continued to follow this new ‘underground’ sound which eventually led him to befriend local legend Will E Tell

Over the years, Dave has graced the stage of countless gigs, providing support to luminaries such as Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Richie Hawtin, Luke Vibert, Vitalic, Omar S, Henrick Schawrz, and more recently Octave One and Stacey Pullen.

His humble nature, classical background, ear for music and versatility, have attributed to a successful career and established a reputation for infusing sounds along with crossing genres.

Wow! Thanks so much for the support guys, I feel really privileged to be part of the next local sessions , such a great concept, really hope this idea stays strong to showcase the local talent we have in this magnificent city. I wish we had something like this every week. I was a huge fan of the 5 hour challenge at Honky's too.

So many good young and previously established djs that don't really get the recognition they deserve, something like this on a regular basis would remind so many people about the local talent we have right here. I for one will def look at organising future shows such as these and put the emphasis back on our local djs and live acts.
