Good idea, keeping it all in the one spot.

Now here's my tale of woe:

The track that uses this sample was from the first ever techno music I taped off the radio in mid-1995 which was lost very soon afterwards.

I can't remember anything about this track apart from the sample, which is of Sherilynn Fenn playing Audrey in Twin Peaks (Season 2,
Episode 1 - between 12 and 14 minutes from the start of the episode) and she says "Go away..... I'm shy"

The track was definitely released prior to mid-1995, and going by the show that it was played on (Beat In The Street / Tranzmission
with Kate Bathgate on 3RRR - I forget when the name changed, if it was before or after this) I would say it would have to have been
pretty new, as they always played the most cutting edge stuff - I'm guessing it would have been released in 1994 at the earliest.

This sample is all I have to go by. Hopefully someone will recognise it and know the track. It'll end a 10+ year search and will make my life complete!

Either message me here or email me on djneo@networkacid.com

And here is a link to the sample, taken from the actual Twin Peaks episode: SAMPLE

EDIT: Un-stickied as I figure it will get a fair bit of use anyway and wont be too hard to find.
Ni!

As in the sample, "...It's time to start running!"???

That would be: "Temple Of Dreams" - Messiah

I have a couple of obscure ones I have been trying to figure for a long time myself...

First one, very housey, prob late 93? Sample says "I'm not your pleasure toy" ( well actually sounds more like " ahhh ah ah I'm not your pleasure, ahhh ah ah I'm not your pleasure, ahhh ah ah I'm not your pleasure toy... I'm not your pleasure toy" lol ) Seem to remember Edwin spinning it at the Beat for any brisvegans...

Another one, I had on a mixed tape that may have been Krome & Time, prob about '93/'94, had some pretty heavy guitar and a sample that said: "This is techno-rock! "

OK here's a *really* hard one... Was on an old Vagas tape (maybe the one he gave away for free after that party that crapped out - it had "Motherf*cker", "F*ck the children", "Analog Signal", "English Muffin", "Acceptable" on it from memory)...
Anyway... teh song had a sample that said "I'm gunna get you, I'm gunna get you" in a kinda kiddy voice...

Any takers?

Cheers,

P

The only Running Man sample I can think of in a track aside from Messiah is in Renegade Rewind by Eko - It has the vocals from the track that was played right at the end of the movie when Arnie's kissing the bird he pulled. The vocals are something along the lines of "this is no game, standing in the dark just when I heard you calling my name". Bear in mind that's a Happy Hardcore track from around 1996, so it probably doesn't fit what you're looking for anyway.

That sounds to me like it could be "Elephant Paw" by Pan Position, that definitely has that sample.

If you mean 'ways of the underground' then could be DJ Promo - Wayz of the Underground (an old Spellbound favourite)

De Donatis III - The Sound

It could also be 'This Sound Is For The Underground' by Krom & Time, but De Donatis is more along the lines of the riff from Dreams and Amphetamine. Top track too, one of my rave favourites from the whole Dreams/Amphetamine/Lost In Love/Gamemaster riff-laden lineage.

No problemo. The Renegade Rewind tune is called exactly that - Renegade Rewind by Eko.

That's "Gotta save the world" by A.O.K. It starts with the radio report, then the sample "john, can you hear me" before the beat kicks in.

Awesome tune that is, but good luck getting it on vinyl - it's as rare as a sober Irishman.

Sorry mate! After launching the thread, 'tis a bit rude of us to not even given them a shot!!

Ok, just D/L'ed them...

- Unknown - ID (Peewee Ferris Mixup 20-5-95)
I now know so well from the last time you put it out there. Sorry, still no idea.

- unknown099
Yeah, absolutely wicked track! Know it, love it, but where from??? Trying to think where... Sounds very much Cosmic Baby? Maybe? But maybe 'cause I thrashed it on a tape that had a lot of Cosmic Baby? Anyway, again wicked track, and great to hear it - albeit a snippet - once more. I'll keep thinking on this one.

- unknown17_70s
Ok, this one appears on Paul Holden's "Cheeky Choons" tape, femaie vocal "Can you feee-eel it?" or similar vocal. If I recall, a remix popped up on one one of the recent-ish anthems mixes, and I think it was ID'ed then, maybe by Midian? Anyway, he'd be your man on this one.

The rest, never heard (or soaked in) at the time.

Good luck.

Hardcore? Really??

It's a fricken great tune though. Great synth riff in the lead. Lovely breakdown in the middle. Yeah, wicked tune. Listening now... on Disc 3 - Paul Holden - Fantazia NYE '93... which I will get hosted shortly. Funny, about to say the "Control Your Mind" sample sounds like "Open Your Mind"... and that's the next track on the mix.

Anyone on the ID?

EDIT: Sorry, realised you said, "Control Of The Mind. Sounds like the "Control Your Mind" track i'm referring to.

OK, another from 1993-ish I'm trying to ID...

Features vocal snippets:
"...play that rock'n'roll and you something-or-other rock 'n' roll"
<lovely arpeggiatored synth riff breakdown>
"...something-something, he's burning with a fever, something-something, he's burning with a fever"
"...The future, the future, the future is ours!"
"...Throw your hands in the air, and wave them like you don't care!"
"...wicked, ...wicked""

I've since come to the conclusion it's a remix of Messiah's "Beyond Good And Evil" (from the album "21st Century Jesus"). Same arpeggiatored lead synth riff, same "throw your hands in the air..." and "wicked..." sample. Just missing the other key vocal samples.

Anyone know the track and what version I'm thinking of?

^^^ Thank you!!! So there's the Messiah link, just they renamed the song in its re-working with the "burning with a fever" sample.

"...Track B1 features "burning with a fever" and "wicked" samples both previously used on Rum & Black's 1991 Without Ice LP."

Now if only I could track down the original source.

Thanks again, mate.

Was just listening to an old Clarkee (Dreamscape) tape and found myself stinging for an old Dyewitness track he drops in with the sample:

dyewitness, dyewitness, dyewitness....

I think it might be ty-rap... but not sure. I'm sure I used to have this on the b-side of one of their other tracks, but it looks like it's gone walkies...

Not the song I'm thinking (but maybe the one OldManRaver was???).

I should post a sample...

Anyone know how I can utilise the 20MB I have with my ISP (Westnet)? I've got my url, just don't know how to upload to it and/or create a directory for people to download from.

Well I had a listen to them, but sorry I couldn't ID any of them. Most of the other stuff in this thread I could get but not yours. Sorry mate

I must say though it's been a long time gone for me and this type of music, but that tune out of the Peewee Essential Mix sounds like a monster. Would love to know what is is.

What's the rest of the essential mix like? I'd be interested in hearing it.

Think it was dutch hardcore - not too heavy

I'll chime in and say that's DEFINITELY NOT the track I'm thinking of. Firstly that male vocal is ghastly not ghostly, and secondly there's no female vocal.

Best (tomorrow) I'll create a clipping of the track I reckon it is and post it on FileFront.

Having two teeth ripped out tomorrow at 9:30am. This should give me something to do while I'm feeling rather sorry for myself.
