lol with all the fuss about drinks

i have seen Special K take basically a full pint of beer and while the record was spinning carefully place the pint on top of the record - then just let it turn with the pint on top

if you have ever tried to do this (which from my own experience i highly reccomend you DONT) then you will know how awesome a trick it is

he did it while we were playing a gig too! (Great Brittain Hotel in the basement)

pretty sure me trying this trick at home resulted in a new pitch fader being installed

Cheers man I really like the whitelabels, easy to find/use and sound great. Yes they're styli are quite fragile, I've been using them for about 8 months and have replaced 3 (unsure if this is good or bad..) but if you're careful it shouldn't be a problem. However I don't scratch so I don't know how they'd hold up if you did.

Cool cool. I'm using S-120 OM and for the most part they do a good trick, but in the last year-and-bit I've lost two needles out the styii.

(Serious. OUT OF the stylii. Looks to have been a bad batch and not glued down properly. Blasted tips just came up and out)

Will put it under consideration, if you're finding yours are failing that often...

Haha damn that sucks! Whitelabel needles don't fall out of the styli thankfully, but say you drop the tonearm accidentally and it hits the side of the platter, you've got a good chance of bending or snapping it and that's how I broke mine.

Mmm about 100 I think. Old school too, had them shipped from NZ - you don't find the same kind of warmth these give in new speakers these days!

Nice, i too like the CDJ poster!!!

Do you find the heat shrink on the tone arms effects the sound at all, I've seen a couple of people do that and I've always wondered..

odd combination of TMA1's and KRK Rokits there.

don't you find the KRK monitors are a bit too .. well, clinical for Serato?
Personally i prefer some nice warm phat speakers to DJ on, and leave the studio monitors for production

Those KRKs are DJ monitors, there's a much more expensive line of KRKs for studio production, though they aren't all that good anyway. Anyone that has Rokits as studio monitors is doing it wrong.

after 3 months of moving into the new house, partner finally let me set up the spare room.
Still got crates to unload, but was told to compromise.

Looking forward to being single again.

Mine's pretty lo-fi. Hasn't changed in nearly a year and a half.
Guess I don't need MacBooks for pure wax. I wish I had something that would give me a bit more freedom than the 12 inches though.
Nice view as well to occupy myself with

^ chock those speakers up, or angle them a little towards your head. You'll be surprised at the increase in the quality of sound.

Get the speakers up to ear level or at least have them pointed at your head. It'll make them sound a lot better.

Left them off the desk...you're driving the sound right into the turntable tone arms and the bass vibrations on the table also none too flash for not muddying your sound...monitors are best at ear level
Pete Gordon - Deep and Low

Slower tempo but still with balls, deephouse, slow-mo, futurehouse, nudeep, indie, nudisco, hints of progressive, whatever the fuck you want to call it, just good shit! Get on it

Yeah I notice lots of people in here with their speakers at/on the same level as the rest of their gear. A cheap, solid way to get those speakers up to ear height... Pop down to Bunnings, Big W, K-Mart etc. get a couple of hard plastic bins (they come in black too), invert them, put them on the desk, stick the speakers on top (actual bottom) of the bin, easy. You can also put some foam rubber between the bin and the speaker to protect the speaker surface, stop vibration, movement etc.

He means the yellow circle on the turntables platter underneath your iPad and the TT cover.

And yeah I think it is, unless it's just the pattern on the slipmat.
