It's good but talking to quite a few people about the set, we've all got the same conclusion that it's not as good as hearing it out loud and being in the Forum seeing it.
The recording doesn't sound bland or anything, the set was mind meltingly wicked but I think it's those certain tunes in the set that sound 10 times better on a loud system.

I was listening to his set from Awakening in 2009 on the train home from work the other day, and seriously had to stop myself from dancing and stomping on people, haha! Step to Enchantment, Dark Matter, We Have Arrived, Set-Up 707, Lyot....so much classic shit!

Yep, he's pretty amazing! Did you see him in Syd or Melb last year? His Syd set was possibly the best set I've ever hear, when he dropped Set-Up 707 I totally lost my shit!

P.S. I love your avatar

Yea, i made my way to sydney for a techno pilgrimage.
Best thing i have ever done i think, ive been a fan for the last 7 years, so to not only hear him play, but shake his hand and thank my favourite artist of all time, was such a cool experience.
Sydney set totally blew my mind

Cheers, its not my cat, but it is supercute.
P.s surgeons new lp is pretty sweet!

This! By far my favourite Techno producer for as long as I've been listening to it.

Also, this

http://mixing.dj/2011/05/10/surgeon-...me-09-05-2011/
Hadnt see it until just now, but i am guessing the first part is off his new LP - Breaking the Frame.
Seems to span a fair bit of ground too, up to (after skipping a fair bit)1:24:59 and its really nice.

I still drop Atol on a regular basis, still get asked what it is all the time and when I tell people it's from 1995 they lose their shit. So much of his work stands the test of time, and is as "current" as anything out there.

Sadly I missed his gig here last year. Does he tour on a yearly basis? Would love to see him come out again for 2011

Surgeon at Machine, Trouw, Amsterdam, Holland 24th September 2011

The concept of Ben Sims and Kirk Degiorgio's Machine night is to play only new music, not relying on familiar classics to move the crowd.
After Sandrien and Kirk Degiorgio I played my set. None of the music I played was more than a year old.
As before, I really enjoyed playing at Trouw and the crowd were great. Following the set wherever it went.

Here is a recording of my DJ set at Berghain recorded between 7am and 10am on Sunday 4th March 2012. Things are getting pretty deep at that time of day, I was enjoying the waves of energy throughout the set. Internal > External and back again.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/ujyw11

While I'm happy for people to share this mix, please don't re-tag the file with the name of your website and re-upload it.

ps. The fact that cameras and filming are not allowed at Berghain make it a much deeper and more intense musical experience for everyone. I sincerely wish this was the case at all of the clubs I play at.
If you are taking pictures, filming, tweeting or whatever else then you aren't fully involved with the music.

To accompany the 2001 re-releases of their first 3 albums, Coil decided to also release a vinyl box set edition which would include a 12" of remixes by Autechre and Surgeon. The remixes were completed and approved by Coil, but the project stayed on the shelf. Sadly since then both John Balance and Peter Christopherson have both died and it's with the greatest respect to their memories that I make this remix publicly available.

I dont know if i think thats true, ive seen a lot of acts and i have a lot of clips/photos etc, for me personally, its like keeping the ticket stub, something to reminisce over. Especially when they play something thats new to you and you fall in love with that track.

It's ok if you take 1 or 2 videos but there are people out there that spend more than half the set just holding up a phone to record.

Yea ok, thats not so cool... maybe a bit excessive and in that instance, it seems unlikely you could enjoy it for what it really was or be in the moment, which is what i think techno, and surgeon are all about, surrendering to the moment.
