The COUNTDOWN Thread \o/
Get amongst it

No matter how far away your trip is, if you've got tickets booked it's time to get excited

In 23 days I'm flying to Columbia with an overnight stop in LA to catch a Lakers game The only other plans I have are to make my way through Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in 3 months. Do the Inca Trail, arriving in Machu Picchu for sunrise on New Years morning. Can't think of a better way to bring in the new year
Spoiler:
Well maybe I can but I've got 2 months and 3 weeks to dable in Columbia's finest

When are you leaving? Where are you going? What do you have planned??

countdown is on bitches. 7 days until I'm on my way to Laos for 5 weeks (although I'll preobably grab a bus to Vietnam and Cambodia at some stage)

Doin it rough. I think I've only just scraped in with $1000 for the whole trip (and STILL gotta buy travel insurance)

9 weeks from today (63 days sounds a bit long) until I leave for 4-5 months travelling through South America & Mexico, with a week or two on the USA west coast before flying home... CAN NOT WAIT!!!

But have so many things to organise it's ridiculous.

Thats just stupid! $1000 for 5 weeks doesnt give you much of a buffer if something goes wrong.

I’m at that awful “in-between” stage at the moment. Used up all my leave in Russia two months ago, planning on heading to Cambodia for two weeks in March, then two weeks in NYC in July.

Well that's fair enough Krafty...you obviously had something physically stopping you and I'm sorry to hear that being sick stopped you from travelling, that would have been really hard for you.

i travelled around europe pretty regularly with my parents when i was 17 and younger cause i've got heaps of family over there (germany/UK) so i kinda felt like i'd seen what i wanted to see already. same with my husband actually.

and in the meantime we got married and bought a place, so you know.. different priorities

lol the money we're spending on this trip was originally intended on being used for kitchen renovations but we thought we'd be un-sensible and blow it on a holiday instead

Just yesterday book my one way flight to the US with 2 mates.

Leave Brissy on the 5th April arrive in LA. Travel US for 2 months. End up in Miami and fly out to Cancun. Spend 2 months travelling Mexico and Costa Rica. Fly out of Costa Rica on 5th of August arrive in Bogota. Have 8 months to work my way around South America over land and end up in Rio for Carnival. Fly out of Rio over to London and do Europe for 2 months. Then come home.

I want to leave now.

holy shit that's awesome!! If it's not too rude to ask, how much have you set aside for this? I'm assuming that if you're going with 2 mates you wont be toooo tight with your money and be splashing out on some activities here and there?

I know it's early days but do you know what rough route you'll take through the states??

I'm so very jealous!
