And we're back.

Nolan has announced the title is 'The Dark Knight Rising'.
It will not contain the Riddler or Dr Freeze.

That is the worst name in the world, expected though as most likely all the next movies will be called "The Dark Knight: ****", Someone should really tell Nolan that Night falls.. not rises... thats the morning.

It has been 22 years since the last "Batman" movie... next year will be 23, and before that the last Batman movie came out 23 years before, and before that 23 years and before that 23 years.

They should really call it Batman to keep tradition.

I have no idea what you just said. And anyway, it's The Dark Knight Rises isn't it? And this is the last Batman movie that Nolan will make, presumably meaning that it's the last one Christian Bale will make.

A movie called "Batman" comes out ever 23 years, ever since the first Batman movie. Next year will be the 23rd year since the last movie called "Batman" was released, thus really keeping in tradition of the last ..4 Batman movies I think, this one should be called Batman. (Especially if it is Nolan's last Batman movie).

The Dark Knight is play on the words, the dark night, as anyone should know, it is basic terminology that night falls and day rises. Just not for that, the Dark Night Rises is a fucking stupid sounding name to begin with, but the reason they are most likely keeping that name because of brand recognition with the last TDK movie instead of calling it something different.

Not really, never liked Nolans Batman movies to begin with, just I am disappointed that they are breaking tradition with Batman, and I do really think The Dark Knight Rises is a really stupid name.

This.

23 years before Burton's Batman there was.....sorry, what movie?

And if you're talking about brand recognition, Batman has more cultural pull than The Dark Knight does, another reason why Nolan's take on the saga is gutsy and bold and it has still made a mint.

Whitey, before Kiron comes back Wiki says there were theatrical releases for films titled simply 'Batman' in 1943 and then 1966 (w/ Adam West) so there is indeed some logic to what he's talking about. But who gives a shit anyway? Dude sounds like Jim Carrey in The Number 23 ranting about some supposed sequence/tradition.

think about it. twenty three. two plus three equals five. five plus three equals eight. eight minus two is six. six divided by two is three, the EXACT AMOUNT OF BATMAN MOVIES CHRISTOPHER NOLAN IS DIRECTING. coincidence? i think not.

it's science.

It's all well and good to have faith in Nolan, but without a villain as awesome as ledgers joker, I don't know how good it can be. Other than the the movies and animated series and the odd comic, I really don't know much about the whole batman mythos and I can't think of any badguys that can capture my interest as much as the bat fuck crazy clown. A step backwards to a character like neeson's r'az would really be quite a big fail imo.

Eh?

Anyway… you guys ever thought that there will be no villain this time round? Batman is on the run now, the city hates him for killing their hero and they'll want revenge (remember he took the fall for Harvey Dent?). Perhaps Batman is the villain?

It has been talked about early on - ie. No villain, or at least no main villain, which would be a bold move.

Have to agree with whitey.
Depp was good in the 90's in flicks like donnie brasco and fear & loathing. But now his just an expert at playing jack sparrow or 'quirky' characters in shit tim burton flicks

If anything, you referencing movies from nearly 10 years ago and further back only serves to prove that he is past his used by date.

You said name films he's been good in. There's heaps. Just because they were a while ago, that means he's now unable to still play those kinds of roles? That makes no sense.

from hell.

i'm not going to sit here and claim that any of these movies are brilliant (some of them were downright shit, due more towards script/directors than his casting), but his acting was solid and varied in all of them. you can't really claim he played jack sparrow or hunter s. thompson in any of these movies.

oh, and hi, i'm Jim Jarmusch. I put Johnny Depp in this little movie called dead man that was completely and utterly different to anything else he's done because i'm a weird quirky old ****, just like depp.

Dude lets not say things we can't take back.

Depp's never approached anything like 'Waterworld' or 'The Postman' bad.

I reckon he's a champ.

What's wrong with playing the same type of character anyway if that's what works and that's where your money is? De Niro, Pacino, Jack Nicholson are way more typecast than Depp, but it works.

Chill Whitey. It's very doubtful he'd be in this film anyway, so move on.

Anyway, it could indeed be a 'no main villain' thing, which could be cool. Have Tom Hardy as Hush in a sub-villain capacity like Scarecrow was in Batman Begins.

I agree that 'At World's End' was ridiculously bad, but Depp was never as bad Kevin 'Concrete Wall' Costner.
