Yeah pretty much...they said a few things aren't on the menu from Toko but if you really want it then they'll bring it round.

Suburb: Darlinghurst, Sydney
No of people: 2
Gathering / special occassion: Just a quick, cheap meal before going out drinking tonight
Byo: Preferably, but not mandatory
$$ per head: < $25, but the cheaper the better
Cuisine: Anything, but more on the healthy side. No deep fried or high carb shiz.
Pre booking: Eh, I will if the recommendation come highly enough, but a walk-in deal would be tops.

Bar Reggio but that's a bit pizza/pasta focused.

Preferred Location: Sydney, preferably Inner burbs with places to drink afterwards - Surry Hills, Paddingtoin etc.
No of people: around 14 - 15!
Gathering / special occassion: End of Season dinner and drinks (many).
Byo: Not important/ wouldbe a bonus
$$ per head: around $40 (not inc alc) but a little flexible.
Cuisine: ANYTHING! Just not Veg.
Pre booking: It's this Friday night (1sr Oct), and i've left it way too late, i know i'm cutting it fine!

Any help much appreciated, I've only been living in Syd for 18months and have no idea why I put my hand up to organise the end of season drinks.

Any help much appreciated!

Hmm, I'd be hitting up some sort of Turkish banquet style thing if I were you. Can't recommend specific places, but check out Eatability for that area and that cusine in mind maybe?

Either that or a Brazillian BBQ. All you can eat meat. Fuuuuuck yeeeeah.

Yeah, BBQ is best in servings and they have fine decor and according to me it is the best dine area in Sydney with very minimum charges.

Preferred Location: Manly (getting the ferry over, so walking distance from the ferry dock)
No of people: 2
Gathering / special occasion: Lunching with Mum who is visiting for the weekend. Neither of us have been to Manly for years so just want to go somewhere different for a change.
Byo: Nah
$$ per head: Less than $30.
Cuisine: Mod Oz or pub grub.
Pre booking: Let me know if it's known to get busy and I'll book.

Edit: after looking on Eatability/Google, I'm almost sold on 4 Pines. Anyone been?

City / suburbs / area / state / country /: sydney, close(ish) to CBD or north....
No of people:not sure... but cater for possibly 12
Gathering / special occasion: boys night out, will be lots of beer, so CBD or pub area good.
Byo: yes but willing to overlook
$$ per head: not a huge issue
Cuisine: HOT
Pre booking: yes

I'm considering putting the call out to creating an "awesome, both ends" chilli restaurant club with the boys... basically boys being silly and going to chilli style restaurants to eat stupidly hot food and have many beers. we mostly are on good money, so a bit of cash per head isn't a problem, but I'm guessing the "best" won't break the bank!

so any ideas?

That's my workmate's regular watering hole, he loves the place, though more as a drinking establishment, he reckons the atmos and the beers are great. I'll ask him how he rates the food tomorrow.

Absolutely top idea, and I think you're right that money is basically no object on that one because you're not gonna be looking at any of the top of the town places anyway, the priciest thing you're likely to be hitting is Singapore Chilli crab somewhere.

Bracko - I do a similar thing with my crew.

Places I'd reccomend:

Spicy Panda. (get the stir fried rabbit) My favourite sichuan restaurant.
Red Chill 2
Sichuan HotPot - (glebe)
Crazy Wings (get the BT Monster if you want to really test your tolerance)
Twisted Noodles - more of an in+out quick meal but the broth is HOT!

For this Sunday night:

Preferred Location: Sydney CBD, close to Town Hall as we'll be walking from there
No of people: 7
Gathering / special occasion: Dinner for my family and a couple of friends - celebrating my sister performing at Town Hall
Byo: No preference, it won't be a big night
$$ per head: not too expensive less than or around $30 mains I guess?
Cuisine: Modern Aus/Pub food, there are a couple of picky people in our party, so somewhere where there is bound to be something for everyone
Pre booking: Preferred if possible

Am finding it hard to find places open for dinner on a Sunday
im an ocean, in your bedroom...

why bumba knows all about penii:
because i have a weird strain of Tourettes that manifests itself in a physical fashion, instead of randomly yelling and swearing i randomly walk around and grab mens crotches
wanna know where i do my grocery shopping?

Restaurant for 21st bday in MELB
Hey food professionals,

I'm having a 21st birthday dinner - and am looking for somewhere nice to go in Melbourne.

I don't want anything super fancy with groundbreaking dishes etc. just some place that is really nice and would suit ~30 people with good food.

Location South Eastern suburbs or CBD.

Not too fussed on the cuisine. Just NOT - seafood
Price - $15-30 mains i guess. I assume we would have a special menu or banquet being a large group..

Thanks for your help

im confused about how the night will work

In the past i have had my sisters bday dinner at a chinese place.. and we ended up getting a banquet for everyone..

But im looking at the online restaurant rating sites (and am completely confused and lost).. and can't work out whether

a) we will be able to all order from the menu
b) we need to use their special function room
c) they will have a set menu

so confused.. help!

Melbourne Friday Lunch for 2
Ok so i'm down in Melbourne for a night, but we're getting there early morning but wanted to have a long lunch somewhere. So if you had to choose just one place for an out of towner, what one place would be the best to go to?

I don't want to go to Rockpool B & G, Grossi Florentino, Longrain, Jacques Reymond, Ezard or Cafe Di Stasio as i've been before

City / suburbs / area / state / country /: Melbourne CBD or close by
No of people: 2
Gathering / special occasion: Long lunch, two people, open on friday
Byo: either way
$$ per head: not fussed
Cuisine: not fussed
Pre booking: yes

Agreed, good suggestion... there are tonnes of options though! Might want to narrow it down.

I'm on my mobile so can't copy the format... I'm looking for a place around circular quey for 2 peeps that isn't touristy, quality food, decent booze, has atmosphere but you can talk.

Suggestions? I'm considering pony, but not sure I should fork over that much on a first date

Sake was full so I think I've found a place... ill do a recon mission tonight to see what its like.

Edit:
Ended up at Wine Odyssey. Was a bit worried by some comments that it was an overpriced tourist venue, but I think it was fantastic, not stupidly expensive, well priced wine, service decent. I'd go back.

Catalina's at Rose Bay. Went for gf's Mum's birthday lunch. Quality fodder and not too expensive. I passed on the suckling pig (at $99) and regretted it when a neighbouring table had it land on their plates. Looked deliciously huge. The leg of duck was fantastic though

Recommend the tempura oysters, if the sushi chef is on duty (apparently the sushi/ sashimi is a special, and not available all the time)

Also, they're doing a three course set lunch menu (three choices) for $60, Mon-Fri at the moment.... tempting
