very unimpressed. it's just another festival now, nothing unique about that line up. volta and shadow side shows will keep me happy. wouldn't complain if thievery corp had a sideshow too.

Not enough dance acts to get me there. Would of liked Royksopp & Battles. Kanye isn't my thing so I guess that makes the $520 price tag seem a bit much..

I still think the price is OK for 3 days of music and camping... if you like the music on offer. Which I don't really

No doubt I'll probably end up going anyway.

I think I'll end up getting peer pressured in going like last year by mates... line up is a bit meh

i'd rather spend $510 on return flights to south east asia and a weeks accommodation.

yeah but pez.... it's shadow! i saw thievery corp at both bris and syd good vibes so i won't be too sad if i don't catch them again. it will probably be a let down if they tour with less than the 20 odd piece band they had last time!

Tickets on sale 3 weeks from tomorrow, should be $530 total including all the fees for camping + 3 days festival.

Not bad considering you could potentially camp wed-mon (5 nights) and 3 full days of music.

I didnt go last year (went 2009) but have heard nothing but positive things about the Woodford site. Only thing is avoiding traffic chaos in and out.

Hope they keep Perry Farrell away from any turntables that are on site....

none the less shan't be going, as Rancho said, better off flying overseas or as I just mentioned to my room mate "paying a month or two's rent"

i want to go, purely because last year camping with my friends was so much fun!!!! but...saving for overseas and wedding in august means i probably cant. if i win lotto maybe!

line up isn't the most amazing in the world, but i could definitely be kept entertained for a few days.

I am with Brad and Pez, apart from Thievery corp and Shadow, it is a bit meh. Even then to be honest I have only really liked Shadow once out of the 4 or so times I have seen him. So not that interested.

Thievery corp, if they are coming with the full band, I would fly to Sydney to see over going to Splendor

only reason i go get blowjob from spektor, but that isnt 510 $ worthy. I dont see the hoop over a festival now days when they so much money. And beside i dont wanna go stand in a crowd of jean short, long hair, fedora, clubman glasses wearing smelly dicks saying "foster the people are essential skate vid music".

+1 on thievery corp. Fingers are crossed for a side show. They blew me away at good vibes in 08.

ticket prices for glastonbury are $100 cheaper, they are taking the piss.

I think there's perhaps a cultural difference at play. I don't think Americans find the shows quite so dire. To Australians raised on a diet of good live music though, they're shit.

that's probably why he doesn't let photographers in the pit during his shows, he doesn't want evidence of how shit they are.

I've always loved Kanye, I've seen him live 4 times, and everytime he has been great except for Goodvibes. And that (very average) performance is what most people seem to be basing their opinion on, and probably the only time most people have seen him.
All bullshit and robots and fluro lights aside he puts on an awesome performance and is going to be awesome to see headlining. A few recent live videos I've seen of him seem to be a lot more stripped back and focused on his performance again

this is true...even if you dont like aussie hip hop, they always put on a great live show (as an example).

i would be interested to see kayne, to see if he could deliver. but not going to splendour solely to do that! although, if he got it right, his show in the natural amphitheatre could be immense.

they said in the newsletter they are limiting the number of cars you can take this year to help ease traffic congestion, but yes you park next to your tent....last year you could use campervans etc so i can't see them changing that this year.

They're not too keen on people taking super-size motorhomes (ie massive Winnebagos). Your regular Britz-style campervan is fine. Just email them and ask if you're unsure.

I was at that show and the constant outfit changes took away from the gig so have to agree on the 08 show.

However, he just finished his closing set at Coachella and holy god he was good. Amazing production, he completely killed it and has convinced me I have to go to Splendour purely to see this show

STrong bump.

Got my camping ticket.

Seems this year you now have to buy vehicle passes for the day you want to arrive. No pass = no vehicle access to camp ground.

Yeh WTF is up with the car pass? couldnt 'encourage' that with the ticket price ey? I think its a great way to extort more moneya and increase the bottom line. if ur going to roadtrip, ur going to roadtrip with mates, period. what about us who think camping at a music festival is an activity we would like to do with a partner? or meetup with interstate travellers? isnt forking out 1k already enough?

Oh boo hoo, I can't take as many cars as I like to a festival, my rights are being trampled on, fight the power!

Chill dude. The parking fee is a deposit only, it's refunded to you IN FULL if you abide by the rules.

Were you at the event last year? The vehicle situation was a complete cluster fuck and unsustainable. Something had to be done.

i am just curious as to whether the "refund" is actual cash, or "splendour dollars" redeemable at food stalls like some friends got given as change last year when they bought a snack?! if its the latter, that is pretty disgusting.

This year SPLENDOUR will be issuing a set but adequate number of car passes for entry into the site each day. For event-camping ticketholders, this means that those who wish to bring a vehicle on site will need to pre-purchase a Campground Vehicle Entry Pass for a FULLY REFUNDABLE $30 fee, which includes all booking fees and charges. Please note that these passes must be pre-purchased and will not be available on site. To receive the refund, your vehicle must be carrying a minimum of three people, so it's simply a case of carpooling with two or more mates and you'll get your full $30 back, onsite at the event, to spend however you wish.

I can only assume from those details they mean actual cash. I agree it would be exceptionally dodgy if you rocked up and were given Splendour money. In fact i'm pretty sure that would be illegal (your friends should have refused last year and insisted on legal tender).

edit: I'm going to email them and ask.

Your argument failed at the point where you implied i was taking 'as many cars as i wanted'. public transport for this event from sydney is not provided, and im taking my girlfriend only. im not taking a group of hipster wannabes to bulk up my rep. im taking the only other person i know is going to this.

Where is the rule that you need 3 or more people to attend this event? it wasnt listed anywhere when purchasing tickets. Abide by the rules? How is charging someone $30 going to stop them from arriving whenever everyone else is going to arrive, cause that whats causing the 'clusterfuck' right? or was that the event organisation, overselling, logitics, security numbers? procedures fault?
