It’s always a difficult to cover a classic tune, and even more difficult to make a good job of it. The Shapeshifters, with a little help from their friends, have managed to pull it off, as their take on the Orbital classic ‘Chime’ doesn’t lose any of its magic after nearly 20 years on from its original release.

The Shapeshifters rework is a housier affair than the acid rave original, but the killer beat and uplifting bassline remains intact, so there’s no doubt it is definitely a tune to be dropped at peaktime. It will do untold damage on the dancefloor!

There are a few handy mixes on the release, namely from Martijn Ten Velden and Henrik B. The Henrik B mix goes down a more minimal path, while Ten Velden tweaks it to make a top quality mix that brings out the essence of the original, while adding his own unique touch. All in all a top tune re-done in fine style.
